Podcaster Bobbi Althoff revealed her side of the story after Funny Marco pulled the plug on their comedy tour. On Thursday, July 25, 2024, the internet personality took to her Instagram stories to address Marco's decision, which he announced in a YouTube video.
The 26-year-old expressed her shock at the move, stating that she found out about it through social media. Althoff suggested that her informing Marco of her social anxiety may have contributed to Marco's decision to cancel the tour (referring to Marco's reasoning that their styles do not mesh together).
In his video, Marco claimed he loves Bobbi, but fans who have paid their hard-earned money to come to their show deserve better. Calling her performance "stiff," he reasoned:
"I'm like, 'Sh*t, this is different, you could do that on the podcast but in real life this is different.' So her comedy was different from what she wanted to bring to the show, which I can respect."
As news of Bobbi Althoff's IG stories spread, internet users were quick to react. Many come to the defense of Althoff, with one saying:
Many called out Marco for not discussing his decision with Bobbi. Others criticized him for not playing to people's strengths. Here are some comments seen under @hollywoodunlocked's post on IG:
Others commented in support of Marco. Some even pointed out that there is no beef between the two, and people are building a narrative.
Bobbi Althoff canceled her tour with Funny Marco last year due to personal issues, including her divorce
Bobbi Althoff explained that she and Funny Marco were supposed to go on a comedy tour together last year. However, she had to back out at the last minute due to problems in her personal life (at the time she and her husband, Cory Althoff, were getting a divorce and she was to undergo surgery), and she felt nervous and unprepared for the show.
The 26-year-old podcaster elaborated on how she informed Marco through a text, stating:
"I text Marco and I said Marco I'm so sorry to do this, but I am so depressed right now. I literally wanna (mimes killing herself with a gun) myself. He doesn't reply and then he unfollows me."
She continued:
"And not only that, in the coming weeks he would go on multiple podcasts and talk about how much he did not f*ck with my style of humor."
After the incident, the comedian approached Bobbi again for another tour together, to which she agreed. The podcaster alleged that she gave her best, but Marco kept criticizing her performance. This prompted Althoff to confess (to Marco) that she has debilitating social anxiety, which is why she leans into her social awkwardness on the stage.
She brings up their last show together when she had a little drink before her performance to calm her nerves. This proved to be a good move, as she breezed through the show and even informed Marco. She said that she took his advice, and it worked to get her out of her comfort zone. The comedian, for his part, agreed and told Bobbi Althoff she "killed it."
However, a couple of weeks later, Bobbi Althoff's team informed her about the tour being canceled. Despite trying to get in touch with Funny Marco multiple times, her calls were ignored. However, he continues to tag her in various social media posts. Today, the podcaster was tagged in Marco's YouTube video detailing the reasons for canceling their tour.
Funny Marco has not publicly reacted to Bobbi Althoff's video.
