Former US President Donald Trump was elected for a second term after defeating Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, November 6. During her campaign rallies, many celebrities endorsed Harris. Following the election, the Republican's triumph over the Democratic leader sent shockwaves through the American entertainment industry.
Celebrities like Ethel Cain, Billie Eilish, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lili Reinhart, Cardi B, Christina Applegate, and Sophia Bush took to social media platforms like X and Instagram on November 6 to express their displeasure and anger at Donald Trump's re-election.
Cain criticized the Trump voters and said she hoped “peace never finds” them. On the other hand, Eilish claimed the election result was an alleged “war on women”. Curtis further said that “minority groups and young people” will now be afraid.
“If you voted for Trump, I hope that peace never finds you. Instead, I hope clarity strikes you someday like a clap of lightning and you have to live the rest of your life with the knowledge and guilt of what you've done and who you are as a person,” Ethel Cain wrote.
“It’s a war on women,” Billie Eilish shared on her Instagram story.
“Many fear their rights will be impeded and denied. Many, minority groups and young people will be afraid. Gay and trans people will be more afraid. We know that many women will now find it difficult to get the reproductive healthcare that they need and deserve....,” Jamie Lee Curtis shared on Instagram.
Other celebrities also shared a similar sentiment. Reinhart alleged that millions of people voted for the “abuser”, while rapper Cardi B said that she hated the Trump voters.
“I cannot fathom the feeling of the women who came forward about their s*xual assault at the hands of Trump. Seeing millions of people vote for their abuser,” Lili Reinhart wrote on Instagram.
“I hate y’all bad,” rapper Cardi B said after Harris lost the election.
Actor Christina Applegate expressed disappointment over the Republican win and wrote on X:
“Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why? And if you disagree, please unfollow me."
"Great job giving the MAGA gang more power, America. Wonder how many folks are seeing this and STILL saying 'But but but at least he’s not a Black woman!' in the privacy of their homes tonight. My heart is broken..," actress Sophia Bush wrote on X.

He wrote:
“Who would have guessed lying about Biden’s cognitive health for 2 yrs, refusing to do an open convention for a new nominee, never mentioning public healthcare & embracing fracking, the Cheneys & a yr long slaughter of children in Gaza wouldn’t be a winning strategy?”
Other celebrities like actor John Cusack, author Stephen King, and filmmaker Adam McKay also expressed similar sentiments on different social media platforms following the election results.
