The trailer for Meg 2: The Trench has been released and fans are mesmerized by what they have seen. The film is a sequel to The Meg which was released in 2018. While monster films are a staple for Hollywood, a Megalodon is much more than a monster. It's the apex predator and it did exist on Earth in the Jurrasic era. While dinosaurs ruled on land, the oceans were terrorized by this bestial creature.
The Megalodon was not just the largest shark but even the largest fish in the history of this planet. While the film's trailer showcases the creature as something that can take down a dinosaur with ease, in reality, it grew between 15 and 18 meters in length.
Netizens were visibly baffled by the size of this creature in the trailer and pointed out that what they saw was scientifically inaccurate.
Fans on Twitter buzzing after watching a megalodon laying waste to a T-Rex in the trailer for Meg 2: The Trench
The trailer for the upcoming film opened with a couple of smaller dinosaurs going about their business when all of a sudden they are attacked by a ferocious Tyrannosaurus rex. The bigger dinosaur easily overpowered the smaller dinosaurs and began devouring their remains.
This scene took place on a beach, which basically is the Megalodon hunting ground. When the T-Rex was enjoying his meal, the gigantic creature emerged from the sea and grabbed the dinosaur in its jaw. Its death was instant and the Megalodon ripped and devoured it in a heartbeat.
Here is how fans on Twitter responded to the trailer:
While fans are aware that real Megalodons didn't grow this huge, they are excited to watch the film. They claimed that they will watch the film in theatres and were impressed by its CGI.
The Megalodon is comparable in length to today's whale sharks which are between 17 to 19 meters. While the prehistoric creature's appearance was exactly like a great white shark, their ancestors hardly exceed five meters.
