Dancer Allison Holker recently opened up to People Magazine about her late husband Stephen tWitch Boss’ tragic demise. She shared about discovering that Stephen, who died two years ago, had been suffering mentally. During the same interview, she further talked about his drug addiction. As per a video uploaded on January 7 by Hollywood Unlocked on Instagram, she said:
“I had dealt with an ex that had addiction problems and then I realized Stephen had addiction problems and it's something that I kind of have been like what, where was I involved in this.."
Allison Holker continued:
"I had to take some steps for myself to realize like, you know, I was able to help one and I wish I could have been there for the other… But it's also not my job to do that…”
Once the video went viral, it garnered mixed reactions from the netizens. They flooded the comment section of the clip to share their opinion on Allison Holker's remarks. One Instagram user even alleged that she was not honoring her late husband's legacy by saying these things about him.
One said that she could "have let him rest", while another one said that she was being dishonorable and shaming her late husband.
However, many came to her support and backed her up. One Instagram user said that she was just telling the truth, while another netizen claimed that she was spreading awareness.
Allison Holker also talked about Stephen tWitch Boss' alleged struggle with the addiction
In the People’s Magazine interview, Allison Holker shared how she found out more about her late husband's struggles via his possessions. Talking about the same, Holker continued:
“There was a moment when I was cleaning out the closet and picking out an outfit for.. the funeral.. And it was a really triggering moment for me because there were a lot of things I discovered in our closet that I didn't know existed.. And it was very alarming to me to learn that there was so much happening that I had no clue.."
However, Allison Holker didn't specify what kind of things she found in the wardrobe or the kind of drugs her late husband allegedly used to consume. Nevertheless, she talked about what Boss must have felt during his struggle.
Speaking of the same, she said:
“But it helped me process what he was going through so much.. And he was hiding so much and there must have been a lot of shame in that.. He was trying to self-medicate and cope with all those feelings because he didn't want to put it on anyone... He didn't want any other people to take on his pain…”
The interview came two years after Allison Holker’s husband, Stephen tWitch Boss died by suicide on December 13, 2022. LA Times claimed in their May 25, 2023, report that Boss died at the Oak Tree Inn motel in Encino from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The report also stated that according to his family, Boss had no history of suicidal thoughts or attempts. It further implied that his system was free of alcohol and narcotics at the time of his passing. Investigators also concluded the same as he had left a note mentioning his "past challenges."
