TikTok star Yolanda Diaz came under fire for hinting at experiencing a tragedy multiple times on the video-sharing platform. Several followers expressed exasperation over the influencer not explaining what she was experiencing. Diaz had yet to address the online backlash at the time of writing this article.
Reddit user u/Defiant_Energy6165 took to the r/tiktokgossip subreddit on October 3, 2024, to claim that Yolanda Diaz was teasing “something bad happening” to her. In their social media post, the user asked Diaz to "either speak about it or don't post anything," stating that what she was doing was "weird."
“If something bad has really happened (god forbid), why are you teasing it with tiktoks? Either speak about it or don’t post anything. It’s weird,” the user wrote.
The user also noted that the 27-year-old had posted at least three TikToks where she hinted at something concerning happening to her. Her latest TikTok video was uploaded on September 3 and has amassed nearly eight million views at the time of writing this article.
“Today is awful this is all I have. We would have never gotten up to leave if we knew what was coming,” it read.
In another video uploaded on October 1, Yolanda Diaz said, “adding some “happy” into our home.” She also said in the caption of the video, “we need it.” In a "Get Ready with Me video," uploaded on the same day, Diaz hinted at something concerning happening to her.
"There are some days where getting up and getting dressed is the only thing that will keep me from laying in bed and honestly just crying all day,” she said.
Yolanda Diaz is a lifestyle and fashion influencer who has amassed over two million views on her TikTok account. She also boasts nearly 170,00 followers on Instagram.
The TikToker's recent content left internet users exasperated as she didn't discuss what was happening in her personal life. Many users claimed that they disliked "it when people are coy about stuff like this," calling it "baiting for views."
“I really dislike it when people are coy about stuff like this. Like they are baiting for views,” a netizen commented.
“She’s been rubbing me the wrong way for a few months now. In her comments, she also said, “it’s not my story to tell” …well it sure seems like you want to tell it,” a Reddit user said.
“She’s been giving me weird vibes too! I use to love her content and now she seems so fake and everything is an ad,” a platform user opined.
Fans speculated that her recent content was hinting at her mother’s health journey as she was battling cancer, but the influencer hadn't confirmed the same.
Some said that what Yolanda Diaz was doing was "out of touch," and "annoying." Yolanda has yet to respond to any of the backlash she has been facing.
“We sympathize but why hint/tease a sad event/ moment??? I think it’s out of touch and NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE RECORDED/SHARED. NORMALIZE PRIVACY,” a netizen said.
“Omg since she uploaded this I’ve been searching her name on Reddit bc I’m so confused eventually I unfollowed her cuz it’s so annoying she did this,” a platform user said.
“She’s VERY fake. I can see right through it, but people eat that shit up for some reason,” another Reddit user said.
“It's been upsetting me because anyone who follows her knows her mom is sick & has health conditions that seem to land her in the hospital often, so when you see something like this you think something has happened to her mom, but she won’t address it. I get not addressing it but then stop posting videos of it,” a netizen said.
“I’m so glad I blocked her a while ago. It was when she did the story about her getting fired from her job but it was an undisclosed ad about makeup I was done. Plus her husband gave me the creeps,” another internet user said.
