Charlamagne Tha God recently made his way into the headlines after the radio host stated that he would “absolutely” endorse Kamala Harris, the Vice President, as the new candidate for President of the United States of America.
As he appeared on The Lead, on July 23, he spoke to the CNN host Jake Tapper and noted that as Joe Biden declared he has withdrawn from the race to become the President yet again, people should give Harris a chance to overtake the post. Charlamagne Tha God AKA Lenard McKelvey said:
"Yeah, absolutely. I absolutely would endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. I supported Kamala Harris in 2020 when she ran for president; I was out there on the campaign trail with her.”
Stating how Kamala was the only reason why Charlamagne voted for Biden previously, the radio host continued:
"She was the only reason that I voted for the Biden-Harris ticket to begin with, and we have our disagreements on air and off air, but I think that she is the perfect person to fight in these unprecedented times right now. I would absolutely support her."
The statement by McKelvey came just after Biden decided to endorse Kamala Harris by dropping out of the re-election battle. In a letter to the nation, he offered his “full support and endorsement” for Harris, and stated that he would be filing an official notice to change the campaign name to “Harris for President.”

Charlamagne Tha God shocked many when he appeared on the CNN show and offered his support to Kamala Harris. In the show, he spoke against Biden and Trump and stated how he had voted for Biden in the previous elections only because of the Vice President. However, this is not the first time that Charlamagne Tha God has openly stated what he feels.
The statement of Charlamagne Tha God came weeks after he called former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden "trash candidates." In his interview with The View on May 22, 2024, he said:
"If I think both candidates are trash, and I don’t feel like endorsing one, would you rather me endorse an individual or endorse the fact that, hey, we need to go out there and protect democracy?”
He continued:
“If I’m sitting here telling my listeners that you have somebody out there who is a threat to democracy, you have somebody out there who said they want to suspend the Constitution to overthrow the results of an election, you saw this person try to lead an attempted coup of this country … There’s only two candidates out there.”
During the interview, he called Donald Trump a “threat to democracy,” and stated that out of the two candidates, his clear choice is Joe Biden. Furthermore, he also stated in the past that it would be an “ultimate Christmas gift” for the voters if Joe Biden decided to drop out of the elections.
As McKelvey openly shared his thoughts about Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris, social media users have started a debate on the internet, as many agreed with the radio host, while many disagreed.
