The netizen did so and created a viral video about her “dream couch.” She explained in the video:
“This is me finding an $8000 couch in the middle of the street. Here’s a quick story time- it was pouring raining and I was walking home and I saw this couch in the middle of the street and I called my dad begging him to come and pick it up because I couldn’t just leave that couch there… the couch was really dirty so we had to clean it… the couch in its full glory! Looking really nice and fit perfectly in my apartment!”
The blue couch in question was made by French furniture company Roche Bobois. They called the piece the "BUBBLE 2 Canapé." The website listed it for $7,985. The TikTok video in question has amassed over 45 million views on the video-sharing platform.

The Tiktoker created another video where she provided an “update” about the viral meme. She explained in the same that the couch was out on the streets for less than 24 hours. Speaking about the quality of the piece and why she believes that it was thrown out by the owner, the TikToker said:
“I personally think it was thrown out because it has a lot of rips that I’ve covered with pillows and it has some stains.”
She went on to add:
“It’s not that it’s dirty. It doesn’t stink, it doesn’t have an odour. It’s literally clean. It’s just the stains that are on the couch.”
The TikToker then stated that she took the blue couch from the streets of a wealthy neighbourhood. She also defended herself by saying that “rich people” buy new furniture “every year” and throw out their older ones so she “saw the opportunity and took it.”
The couch is certainly the most unexpected thing to go viral this year.
