Miley Cyrus, who released her latest album in March, spoke about her career as well as the recent changes in her life goals in a recent interview. In a conversation with British Vogue, she stated that her touring days might be behind her since she no longer feels the need to perform for millions of fans worldwide.

The singer admitted the same in an exclusive interview with the publication on May 18, 2023, and asked herself, "Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment?"

She said:

"It’s been a minute. After the last headline arena show I did in 2014, I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t. Not only ‘can’t’ because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own? And, you know what... I have no desire for it."

The singer also stated that she is dedicating her life to her own happiness, rather than attempting to fulfill the desires of her fandom, as she attempted to do in the early years of her career.

"I make choices that I’m proud of that protect me" - Miley Cyrus opens up about her life

Miley Cyrus elaborated on how the judgment she faced throughout her career shaped her present-day outlook on life.

She said:

"I carried some guilt and shame around myself for years because of how much controversy and upset I really caused. Now that I’m an adult, I realize how harshly I was judged. I was harshly judged as a child by adults and now, as an adult, I realize that I would never harshly judge a child."

Miley Cyrus added that she has no desire to perform for a crowd anymore, and prefers to perform for her friends and herself. Speaking about her friend and choreographer Stephen Galloway, personal stylist Bradley Kenneth, her hair and make-up team members including Bob Recine and James Kaliardos, and more, she said:

"Look, the kiki follows me everywhere that I go. I love performing but pretty much for them. Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety. It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people then you are alone."

Miley Cyrus later elaborated on why she no longer has the desire to perform live, revealing that her decision is intrinsically tied to her wellness and happiness.

She continued:

"I make choices that I’m proud of that protect me… I put my mental and physical health before a paycheque… I freed up space for myself to be with friends and family doing what I love, which is working out, eating well, learning ways about how to enhance my life, staying dedicated to practices and protocols that are specifically designed for me."

Miley Cyrus released her eighth and latest studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, on March 10, 2023. The album has been a major success since its release, peaking as a chart-topper on the Australian, Austrian, Irish, Norwegian, Kiwi, and UK album charts.
