Fox News' Bret Baier, co-anchor of Special Report, voiced frustration over an incident during his recent interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. On October 16, 2024, Harris was invited to Fox News for an interview before the presidential election. Following the interview, Baier claimed that members of the Vice President's team were gesturing to wrap up the segment as he attempted to delve into some final questions.

"I had to dismount there at the end," Baier said.

According to Fox News, the Vice President's recent interview with Bret Baier covered various pressing topics. The discussion focused primarily on economic, immigration, and foreign policy challenges.

Bret Baier claims Kamala Harris' aides tried to cut short his Fox News interview

On Wednesday, October 16, Vice President Kamala Harris joined Bret Baier on Special Report to discuss her presidential platform and potential policies if elected. However, due to timing issues, Baier reported difficulties maintaining the interview's flow. Baier noted that several members of Kamala Harris' team were actively signaling to Bret Baier that the interview should end.

"I’m talking, like, four people waving their hands like it’s got to stop," Baier said.

Furthermore, he said that Harris arrived late, impacting the overall schedule. Originally planned as a 30-minute segment, Harris' team requested it be shortened to 20 minutes, which Baier said limited the depth of their discussion and constrained his ability to cover all prepared topics.

"So, we were supposed to start at 5 p.m. — this was the time they gave us, originally. We’re going to do 25 or 30 minutes. They came in and said, ‘Well, maybe 20 [minutes]. So, it was already getting whittled down. And then the vice president showed up at about 5:15 [p.m.]," Baier claimed.

Moreover, Bret Baier claimed that from the start of the interview, he perceived Kamala Harris as skillful at steering the conversation. He felt she was adept at redirecting the discussion to her preferred topics.

"We were pushing the envelope. So, that’s how it started. And I could tell when we started talking that she was going to be tough, to, you know, redirect without me trying to interrupt," Baier added.

In addition, the anchor claimed that Kamala Harris and her team were deliberately speaking in a way that minimized the pauses, potentially with the intent to “filibuster” or extend answers to control the narrative and avoid certain questions.

"Normally you can kind of get in on the breath. Sometimes there is an effort to filibuster, to create a moment. And I think that that was their goal coming in," anchor further added.

According to Fox News, the Vice President did not answer the questions related to immigration, border security, and President Biden’s mental decline. However, Harris's team has not yet addressed these claims.

Moreover, according to Politi Fact, during the interview, Baier pressed Harris on her stance on immigration, particularly regarding border security and migrant policies, given the heightened public concern around these issues.

Harris emphasized her plans to differentiate her presidency from Joe Biden's, stating that she would bring her own experiences and perspectives to the role if elected in 2024.

The presidential elections in the United States will held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
