FBI director, Christopher Wray has resigned from his position and appeared for an interview with CBS News anchor Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes. During the interview, Wray cited merging the agency with political battles as the primary reason behind his resignation.
He further addressed the 2022 raid at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate which was authorized by Attorney General Merrick Garland. It was then reported that Trump had taken classified documents from the White House. He defended the raid and said:
"When we learn that information, classified material, is not being properly stored, we have a duty to act..."
Wray also confirmed that he had never discussed the details of the investigation with the Biden administration. Meanwhile, netizens flooded the social media platforms with reactions to him being in the interview. Here are some popular responses found on X. A user (@WutsKrakken) tweeted:

In the recent interview with Scott Pelley, Christopher Wray touched on several topics including the 2022 investigation surrounding incoming president Donald Trump. Pelley asked Wray if the investigation was done "by the books."
To this, Wray's response was that during any investigation, his instructions were communicated to the team on a regular basis. He further added that while such investigations had to be conducted in an "independent and objective" manner.
Elsewhere in the interview, Wray was asked about the recent explosion outside in Las Vegas and if it could be a security concern for Trump's upcoming inauguration ceremony. Wray replied:
"We're not tracking any specific or credible threats to the inauguration. What I would tell you, though, is that we're dealing with a threat landscape where terrorists, whether they be foreign or others, can move from radicalization to action quite quickly..."
Wray even stated that he had full confidence in the FBI agents who had the entire responsibility of ensuring security during the event, which is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
Wray had become the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation back in 2017 for a 10-year long tenure.
