David Sacks, an entrepreneur, author, and general partner of Craft Ventures, fired a response after a Washington Post article accused him of spreading "narratives" about the alleged assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.

The Washington Post article, written by Elizabeth Dwoskin and Faiz Siddiqui and dated July 14, called out Sacks, Elon Musk, and Bill Ackman, among others, for using their "online megaphones" to make several "unsubstantiated allegations" about the shooting. David Sacks lambasted this article on X, writing:

"I KNOW A HERO WHEN I SEE ONE. The Washington Post names me along with @elonmusk as one of several businessmen who are using their “megaphones” to spread “narratives” about the assassination attempt on President Trump. I’m not sure what “narratives” they’re referring to, but I know what I saw, and I know what the crowd in Butler witnessed live."

He added that his father-in-law was at the rally in Pennsylvania when the shooting occurred on July 13, claiming that a "pandemonium" reportedly broke out when the shooting first started and Trump went down. However, David Sacks claimed that the former President rose to his feet "defiantly," chanting "Fight. Fight. Fight."

"This is not a “narrative.” It is the truth. Trump stood defiant in the face of an assassin’s bullet. There is no way to fake courage like that. It was more important for Trump to let the crowd know that he was unbowed and unbroken than to be taken to safety," he added.

According to David Sacks, Donald Trump had been "in the fight of his life for months" against Democrats who opposed him. Sacks also called on the American people to show their support for Trump during the elections in November.

David Sacks is one of the speakers at the Republican National Convention

David Sacks is expected to be one of the speakers at the Republican National Convention, scheduled to be held from July 15 to July 18 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is expected to join Trent Conaway, Amber Rose, Ron DeSantis, Sean O'Brien, and Dana White.

David Sacks is one of the many businessmen who support Republican nominee Trump. According to CNBC, Sacks even co-hosted a fundraiser for Trump along with Social Capital founder Chamath Palihapitiya in San Francisco in June 2024. The event was expected to raise $12 million for Trump, with tickets sold for $50,000 a head.

Speaking on his podcast All-In a week before the fundraiser, David Sacks said:

“I know there’s going to be a lot of people who support Trump, but they don’t want to admit it. And I think that this event is going to break the ice on that. And maybe it’ll create a preference cascade, where all of a sudden it becomes acceptable to acknowledge the truth.”

David Sacks was previously the COO of PayPal and an early investor in Airbnb, SpaceX, Facebook, and Uber. In 2008, he founded the social networking service Yammer with Adam Pisoni, which he sold to Microsoft for $1.2 billion in 2012.

The shooting at Donald Trump's rally shook the nation to its very core, with many calling it an assassination attempt. The bullet grazed past Trump's right shoulder, clipping him in the ear and drawing blood. While Trump was unharmed, one person was pronounced dead, and two were injured during the shooting.

The shooter, who was reportedly identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot down and killed by Secret Service snipers at the scene.
