"I didn't have much support" — Melania Trump opens up about not being accepted by people during her husband's first term

On Monday, January 13, incoming first lady Melania Trump sat for an interview with Fox News' Ainsley Earhardt on Fox & Friends. During the interview, Melania touched on a number of topics including her failed "Be Best" initiative.

For the unversed, this initiative aimed at encouraging every children to be at their best in their respective life paths and also teach them about physical, social, and emotional health.

Earhardt asked her if she felt a difference in her second term as the first lady. To this Melania emphasized that she felt she was not understood well by the people. She added:

"I feel I was always me the first time as well. I just feel that people didn’t accept me maybe, they didn’t understand me the way they maybe do now. I didn’t have much support."

According to the incoming first lady, the lack of support was the main reason behind the failing initiative during Trump's first term in 2017. The campaign started in May 2018 assisted children to deal with bullying and the opioid epidemic. During the interview, she further gave insights to the host about how she lacked support for the campaign back then.

Melania Trump mentioned,

"I started in the first administration. I didn’t have much support from anyone. I invited all of the streaming platforms to the White House, I had the roundtable, and I didn’t have much support from them."

She continued by stating that the initiative could have been really successful if she got the sufficient backing from multiple streaming platforms. She then concluded by saying that they had a lot of plans in mind for the next four years.


Melania Trump revealed that she was going to split her time in three different places after becoming the first lady for the second time

During the interview, Melania Trump also shared her plans after Donald Trump became the US president. She spoke about dividing her stay time between Washington DC, Palm Beach, and New York City.

According to her, despite her plans of staying at all three places, she would want to make one her primary residence and live the most in the White House. She cited having several responsibilities as the reason behind such an arrangement. Melania Trump added:

"I will be in the White House. And when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. My first priority is to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife."

Melania also shed light on where Barron Trump was going to stay. According to her, Barron who had since shifted to their Manhattan residence could also stay in the White House whenever he wished. She then mentioned that Barron could do whatever he felt like and there was no imposition of any kind.

In December, a source told PEOPLE that Melania was very determined to ensure that Barron performed well in his school.


Incoming president Donald Trump's inaugural ceremony is scheduled to happen on Monday, January 20, 2025, after which he can start his second term.
