American singer Lady Gaga revealed while interviewing for the October cover story for Vogue that she and tech investor Michael Polansky got engaged in April after a day of rock climbing. This revelation comes after five years of dating and the engagement news was kept private for months as the couple only shared the news with close family and friends at the time.
As Gaga continues planning her wedding with Polansky, she is basking in happiness. A source told PEOPLE in July,
"Everyone’s excited about them getting married," and also went on to say that Lady Gaga is "the happiest with Michael."
In her Vogue interview, Gaga expressed just how content she is with Polansky, stating,
"I want my fans to know that I'm just, like, so happy." Reflecting on her relationship, she shared, "I had never met anyone like Michael. He's so smart and so kind. And his life and my life are very different."
Lady Gaga reflects on finding love and overcoming personal struggles
Lady Gaga pointed out that what she liked about Polansky was that he was very private.
"He's a very private guy and he's not with me for any other reason than that we are right for each other," she said.
The Oscar-winning actress then continued sharing how Polansky played a role in helping her address personal issues. When Chromatica was released in 2020, Gaga said she was in "a really dark place" but credited their relationship for balancing her out and helping her heal.
"The missing piece in my life was having real love," she shared with Vogue.
Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky had been rumored to be dating since the start of 2020 after they were photographed together at a New Year’s Eve eve party in Las Vegas. Soon after they confirmed their romantic involvement with a public kiss at the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami.
The couple had their first meeting late in December 2019 during a friend’s party, she said. Interestingly, she shared with Vogue that she and Polansky were brought together, thanks to her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, back in 2019.
"My mom met him and she said to me, 'I think I just met your husband,' and I said, 'I'm not ready to meet my husband!'" she recalled.
She further added,
"I could never have imagined that my mom…found the most perfect person for me?"
After weeks of phone conversations, the couple went on their first date and, as Lady Gaga put it, "just fell in love." The COVID-19 pandemic further strengthened their bond, as they spent much of the lockdown together at her Malibu home. Reflecting on that time, Gaga said,
"I'd been so focused on my career since I was a teenager. And the gift of that time was that I got to completely focus on my relationship."
In addition to planning her wedding, the singer has more exciting news for her fans. The singer recently revealed that the first song from her upcoming LG7 or Lady Gaga's seventh studio album will be released in October, with the full album set to drop in February 2025.
