Andrew Schulz's comments about Kendrick Lamar's latest studio project, GNX, are making their rounds online. During the December 4 episode of the comedian's podcast, Flagrant, Schulz discussed Lamar potentially dissing him on the album's opening track, Wacced Out Murals.

Trigger Warning: The following article contains references to domestic abuse and r*pe. Reader discretion is advised.

The comedian interpreted a bar where Lamar rapped, "Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that’s law," as a diss targeting his past jokes about Black women. Schulz sarcastically remarked:

"What a time to be alive where rappers gotta talk about comedians for clout.
"Listen, no one has respected women more through art than rappers. So I completely understand how a rapper could look at a comedian telling a joke and be like, 'Yo, you need to switch that sh*t up. How dare y'all keep saying your wives are annoying. Be more like us, b*tches ain't nothing but ho*s and tricks, I beat my b*tch with a stick."

In light of the comment, abuse allegations by Andrew Schulz's former girlfriend, Sara Phillips, have resurfaced. In a December 2020 Instagram post, the singer alleged that she was "manipulated, controlled, and abused" by Schulz. She also requested her followers to stop sending her things related to the comedian.

The pair dated briefly sometime in the early 2010s and broke up by the mid-2010s. Schulz has since married Emma Turner (2021), a tech executive with a background in fashion.

"He would take off his own music off Spotify to protect R. Kelly?"— Andrew Schulz calls out Kendrick Lamar's alleged hypocrisy

A part of the track Wacced Out Murals deals with cultural appropriation and those within the Black community enabling (and getting groomed to enable) such appropriation. Kendrick Lamar raps:

"The n***as that coon, the n***as that bein' groomed, slide on both of them."

Interpreting this as a reference to Flagrant co-host Alexx Media, Andrew Schulz, during the December 4 episode, questioned why Lamar was targeting Black individuals instead of a white comedian making the joke.

Another co-host, Akaash Singh, sarcastically said it was "very important" for Kendrick to say "protect Black women," which is why he has never "done a song with an abuser confirmed." Singh was referencing the Compton rapper's previous collaborations with Kodak Black or Chris Brown (both have pleaded guilty to assaulting women).

In response, Andrew Schulz brought up another controversy surrounding Lamar, saying:

"Are you saying that Kendrick Lamar put it on wax that he is protecting Black women from white comedian's jokes, but not the kidnapping, molestation, and r*pe of R. Kelly? He would take off his own music off Spotify to protect R. Kelly?"

In 2018, Kendrick Lamar threatened to pull his music from Spotify after the streaming service sought to remove music by R. Kelly and XXXTentacion (accused of r*pe and domestic abuse, respectively) under its "hateful conduct" policy.

TDE (Lamar's then label) head honcho Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith elaborated on K. Dot's move during an interview with Billboard in June 2018. He explained that it was not about supporting the two artists but censoring hip-hop artists.

"I don’t think it’s right for artists to be censored, especially in our culture. How did they just pick those [artists] out? How come they didn’t pick out any others from any other genres or any other different cultures?," he told the publication.
"There [are] so many other artists that have different things going on, and they could’ve picked anybody. But it seems to me that they’re constantly picking on hip-hop culture."

Despite his criticism, Andrew Schulz, in the podcast episode, praised GNX, saying it was "good." However, he added that if he ever "had a run-in" with Compton rapper alone, then he would "make love to him," and it was up to Lamar "if it (was) consensual or not."

"He couldn't stop most people on the planet from having s"x with him," Schulz added.

What did Sara Phillips say about Andrew Schulz?

In December 2020, Sara Phillips accused Andrew Schulz of abuse in an Instagram post. She wrote:

"For years, I was manipulated, controlled, and abused by him. The verbal abuse was constant. I was isolated from my friends."

She further described Andrew Schulz's alleged controlling behavior, which included her choice of clothes and makeup. She claimed she once got sick after he used her toothbrush to clean the bottom of his shoes.

Phillips also recalled an alleged incident during a vacation in Aruba where she was forced to hide in the hotel bathroom due to Schulz's anger.

Kendrick Lamar has not publicly reacted to Andrew Schulz's comments.
