There have been several claims of Marvel Studios releasing a Hawk Tuah film, that have spread like wildfire across Facebook. The rumors began spreading after the page Alternate Reality Movies shared a poster of the same on Facebook. While the sign card appears real, it isn't real. Marvel Studios isn't releasing a movie by the name.

Alternate Reality Movies took to Facebook on June 23, 2024, to share the Hawk Tuah movie poster, which showed a woman with golden wings. She looked similar to Hailey Welch, a preschool teacher who brought the meme to life. The Marvel Studios logo and the phrase "SPIT ON THAT THANG" were also visible on the poster.

The placard claimed that the movie was "coming soon," while the caption for the social media post read:

“JUST ANNOUNCED Disney reveals first poster for “HAWK TUAH” and like that, Marvel has the original fanbase back!”

When they saw the post, netizens had hilarious reactions to it, and many commented on the Facebook post, stating that Hailey was a "hero."

“This poor poor girl. She had no idea she was going to become internationally famous for spitting on that thang,” Carl St George said.
“G*dd*mit. With the state of Disney/ Marvel this days, for a second I didn’t even doubt this was real,” Angel Mass stated.
“I can’t wait for this trend to stop lol so annoying already. Y’all realize she probably don’t even do that sh*t,” Danielle Sedlak claimed.

At the time of writing this article, Hailey Welch herself had not responded to the viral movie poster. Meanwhile, some of the other reactions read:

“Not the hero we wanted. But the one we needed,” Sean Michael Trudeau stated.
“The newest member of The Seven?” Mark Triviso said.
“If she even gets a small portion of the income from these memes she’s gonna be filthy rich,” Will Byfield commented.

Other reactions to the poster read:

“This movie would be 10 times better than Madame Web,” Johnathan Qui said.
“She’s definitely a hero in my book,” Jesse Noell said.

Despite many expressing excitement over the same, it is worth noting that the rumors are false.

Hailey Welch, the woman behind the viral meme, also began selling her merchandise, based on the comment that helped her gain popularity. She is reportedly selling baseball caps and t-shirts that say, "Hawk Tuah 24."

Marvel Studios is not making a Hawk Tuah movie

The movie poster shared on Facebook appeared quite real but Marvel Studios will not be releasing any film based on the meme. The production house nor their representatives have confirmed or shared the news on social media or in a press statement.

It is also worth noting that the movie poster is illegible and the names of the people acting in the film aren't clear. Upon careful observation, some fans also noticed the word "ALTERNATE" written on the right bottom corner of the poster. This is the Facebook page that originally shared the news of the Hawk Tuah movie release.

Hence, it is likely that the poster was created using artificial intelligence. A netizen also took to the comment section of the Facebook post to state the same, calling it the "best use of AI."

Thus, it is safe to say that Marvel is not making such a film, and it will not be hitting any movie screens. It is important to verify such announcements from credible news outlets.

What is the Hawk Tuah meme?

YouTubers Tim and Dee TV sparked the viral trend earlier in June 2024 while interviewing people on the street. They were asking people about things that took place behind closed doors. Two of the people they spoke to were Hailey Welch and another girl. Welch responded to the question with a Southern accent and said:

“Oh, you gotta give him that hawk tuah and spit on that thang. You get me?”

This led to Welch gaining social media stardom and subsequently launching her own merchandise under the name Hawk Tuah 24. The items are being sold in collaboration with fatheadthreads.com. Fans can purchase signed baseball caps and t-shirts among other goodies.
