Amid the alleged HAWK cryptocurrency fraud, Hawk Tuah girl Hailey Welch has stopped sharing information on her social media accounts, sparking rumors about her recent whereabouts. Following this a reported image of Welch has gone viral, showing her lounging on a beach in a Dior swimsuit, reportedly worth $2,000.
Millions of people have viewed the photo online. However, it was not taken recently. X's Community Notes claimed that the X post about the photo is misleading. The post, shared on January 5, implies that the photo was taken recently. However, it was taken on November 25, 2024 as evident from Welch's Instagram post of the same day.
The rumor about Welch's photo and her alleged $2,000 bikini surfaced after the collapse of her multimillion-dollar cryptocurrency.
Hailey Welch aka the Hawk Tuah girl is currently in the middle of a lawsuit due to her cryptocurrency scheme
After her Hawk Tuah video went viral, Welch launched many projects to capitalize on her newfound fame. After launching a podcast, she entered the NFT market and introduced her own cryptocurrency named $HAWK.
However, the coin's value increased in a matter of hours and later dropped by 90%. This resulted in enormous losses for investors, she was charged with starting a fraud scheme and facing insider trading charges. However, the Hawk Tuah girl has denied any misconduct and stated that she is working with the impacted parties' legal team.
Following the allegations, the Hawk Tuah girl has since almost disappeared from social media. As a result, several rumors about her have emerged.
Following the cryptocurrency controversy, Welch took to X on December 20, 2024, and wrote:
“I am fully cooperating with and am committed to assisting the legal team representing the individuals impacted, as well as to help uncover the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and resolve this matter. If you have experienced losses related to this, please contact Burwick Law using the link below: https://burwick.law/newclient. @BurwickLaw..”
On the December 4 debut of the $HAWK coin, the coin surged to a $490 million market capitalization before plummeting over 90 percent in a matter of minutes.
In an attempt to defend herself against accusations of insider trading, Welch said on X that her "team hasn't sold one token".
According to a report published by Cointelegraph on December 5, critics claimed that the price decline was driven by snipers, which are organizations that seize a significant portion of a token's supply at launch and control almost all of it. A single wallet was able to purchase about 20% of the memecoin supply and sell it for a $1.3 million profit two hours later.
On the other hand, on Thursday, December 19, investors sued the developers of $HAWK in a federal court in New York, claiming they had lost thousands of dollars on the coin and that it was an illegal unregistered investment. They sought more than $150,000 in damages.
According to the lawsuit, the coin tried to "skirt the American securities laws" and make "no serious attempt to restrict purchasers" to buyers outside the United States, causing a "speculative frenzy," by using Welch's "extensive social media following" to "market the Token as a groundbreaking cryptocurrency project."
Meanwhile, the Hawk Tuah girl has not yet reacted to her pregnancy rumors or the rumors about her wearing the $2,000 Dior bikini.
