Isak Andic, the founder of the high-street fashion chain, Mango, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 71. As per BBC, Spanish Media reported that Isak passed away in an accident, as he fell down a ravine while hiking in the caves near Barcelona, Spain.
Mango CEO, Toni Ruiz also confirmed the news of Isak’s passing. El Pais reported that he was accompanied by his son and a few other family members. CNN also reported that the Catalonia police were instantly called to the scene, as they received input about a 71-year-old man falling down a 320-foot ravine in the Collbató caves of Salitre.
As per Forbes, Isak Andic, who was the founder and owner of almost 2,100 Mango stores across the globe, has a net worth of roughly $4.5 billion. The publication also listed Isak Andic as the 750th richest person in the world.

Born in 1953, Isak and his brother started their careers by selling hand-embroidered T-shirts in Barcelona and Madrid. Andic then Mango with a partner in 1984. In just a few years, the brand became famous globally.
The fashion group has now issued a statement paying tribute to Andic, mourning the loss. The company wrote:
“Isak has been an example for all of us. He dedicated his life to Mango, leaving an indelible mark thanks to his strategic vision, inspiring leadership, and unwavering commitment to values that he himself imbued in our company. His legacy reflects the achievements of a business project marked by success, as well as his human quality, proximity, and the care and affection that he always had and at all times conveyed to the entire organization.”
The statement continued:
“His departure leaves a huge void but all of us are, in some way, his legacy and the testimony of his achievements. It is up to us, and this is the best tribute we can make to Isak and which we will fulfill, to ensure that Mango continues to be the project that Isak aspired to and of which he would feel proud.”
As per Forbes, Andic made a fortune for himself, as his brand, Mango opened thousands of stores all around the globe, across 120 markets. The publication also reported that the brand had employed more than 15,500 people. The brand’s huge success contributed to Isak Andic’s net worth.
Isak, who was formerly married to Neus Raig Tarrago, is now survived by his three kids, Jonathan Andic, Judith Andic, and Sarah Andic. As of this writing, the family has not released any statement about the funeral and memorial services of the business owner.
