Golden Globes 2025 took place on Sunday, January 5, 2024, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Among the guests were Miles Mitchell and Max Braunstein, the pair who won the Timothée Chalamet and Glen Powell lookalike contests previously.

They walked the red carpet holding signs that read:

"I won a lookalike contest and now I'm at the Golden Globes."

Mitchell won New York City's Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest in October 2024, and Braunstein a month later. As photos of the event went viral, netizens were quick to zero in on the two men. One commented:

"It's really easy to be famous nowadays huh."

Many expressed their skepticism at the pair's presence, questioning the reason why they were invited to the Golden Globes. Here are some comments seen under @PopBase's post on X:

"This is a great example of Americans taking something funny and absolutely bludgeoning it to death. The first lookalike contest was great. Cheeky. Wholesome fun. Then everybody got one and the bit got old, and now these guys are coming to award shows? We’ve lost the plot," one person wrote.
"i feel like white people just become famous for anything now," another person commented.
"why are random ppl given a platform and limelight when there are so many other people who deserves a stage like this....." another person wrote.

Others defended their presence at the Golden Globes.

"that's just Glen Powell," one person commented.
"Good for them. Let them have it," another person added.
"ppl complaining are miserable. what ever happened to fun???" another user questioned.

Both Glen Powell and Timothée Chalamet were nominated at the Golden Globes 2025 for their performances in their respective films

Miles Mitchell first made headlines in October 2024 when he won a fan-organized Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition held in New York City’s Washington Park. This was the competition that spurred other similar events across the nation for famous personalities such as Jeremy Allen White, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles.

Mitchell, 21, wowed fans with his Willy Wonka costume. At the time, he told Teen Vogue on October 27, 2024:

"Halloween is around the corner, I thought, I might as well wear this (Wonka costume) to the contest. I brought candy to make it more interactive."

Moreover, Chalamet himself attended the event, but the celebration was quickly shut down by the NYPD for gathering without a crowd permit.

A month later, a Glen Powell lookalike contest, which was judged by the actor's parents, was held in Austin, Texas (in the actor's hometown). Max Braunstein, a physician's assistant, won the competition sporting Powell's look from Top Gun: Maverick.

Ahead of the competition, Powell revealed that the winner would get the opportunity for their parents or any other family member to cameo in his next movie.

Both men had the opportunity to meet their celebrity twins. Mitchell met Chalamet at a screening event for the latter's Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, in December 2024. He later shared the moment on Instagram, writing::

"LIFE IS NOT REAL GUYS #timotheechalamet #grateful #blessed #putmeindune3."

Powell interacted with Braunstein on a video call during the look-alike event and later met in person at the Golden Globes red carpet. Both Powell and Chalamet received a nomination at the Awards for the best performance by a male actor in their respective genres. Powell was nominated for his performance in Netflix's Hit Man, and Chalamet for the biopic.

The Golden Globes were broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+. and will be available to stream on the platform beginning Monday.
