Kamala Harris’ “White Dudes for Harris” fundraiser was a success as the online event raised more than $4 million ahead of the 2024 Presidential elections, which are to be held in November, this year.

Harris’ online event drew more than 190,000 people, including many Hollywood actors like Jeff Bridges, Sean Astin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bradley Whitford, and Mark Hamill.

The event was a Zoom call held on Monday, July 29, 2024. The online event was for the “white dudes” to rally in support of Kamala Harris. As per CBC News, the event lasted for over three hours, during which the participants and key members pledged their support and money for Harris.

The actors were not just attendees in the call but also spoke in favor of the current Vice President. Jeff Bridges of The Big Lebowski fame poured out his thoughts during the call and said:

“I was brought to this party not so much for being white, and I certainly am, but because I’m a dude. A woman president. I’m for that. Kamala is most certainly our girl.”

“We need a president who can prosecute con men like this” - Joseph Gordon-Levitt speaks out in favor of Kamala Harris in the “White Dudes for Harris” fundraiser

As many actors and directors joined the “White Dudes for Harris” fundraiser, Joseph Gordon-Levitt allegedly slammed Donald Trump, and called him a “con man.” Joseph said:

“Donald Trump is a con man who will not look out for middle class, working class, ordinary American people, which is why, we need a President who can prosecute con men like this.”

Furthermore, the Lord of the Rings star, Sean Astin also spoke in favor of Kamala Harris. Stating how he is eager to vote for a “qualified, tested, proven woman into the presidency, so that all girls for all time can know that that's possible."

Mark Hamill, the Star Wars actor also praised Kamala Harris for her previous work as the Vice President, and also gave a shout-out to the Biden administration and called it "the most legislatively successful administration since Franklin Delano Roosevelt.” He then stated how voters should vote for Harris, and stand up to Trump’s “mental illness.”

The West Wing star, Bradley Whitford also urged the participants to vote for Harris, and stated how he has "never felt this kind of enthusiasm ever.” Thereafter, as per USA Today, Josh Gad narrated the incident when in 2016, a woman was not elected as the President as he recalled how he wept, while he stood over his kid’s bed. He said:

"That feeling of dread, and that feeling of fear, and that feeling of shame is not something I'm ever willing or able to allow myself to feel again.”

Apart from the Hollywood actors, the call also included the Minnesota governor, Tim Walz, along with the Illinois governor, JB Pritzker, and the US transportation secretary, Pete Buttigieg. As per The Guardian, they are the prospective contenders for the Vice President position of the Harris-led government.

Furthermore, this is not the first fundraising call organized by Kamala Harris, as her campaign has been focused on gathering the support of the Black, Hispanic, Asian American and LGBTQ+ communities.

The campaign has also planned a “cat ladies for Harris” Zoom call, which is a response to JD Vance, Trump’s VP candidate who had refered to Kamala Harris as a “childless cat” lady.

Kamala Harris’ campaign organizers have also planned several other calls like “The Black Women for Harris,” which gathered more than 90,000 participants, and “The White Women for Harris,” which was attended by more than 160,000 people. The Guardian also reported that another call, “Latino Men for Kamala” is also in the works.
