On Wednesday, January 1, an explosion happened after a Tesla Cybertruck was in flames outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas. The driver, Matthew Livelsberger, was killed, and seven individuals were injured in the explosion. Authorities are exploring connections between Matthew Livelsberger and New Orleans attacker Shamsud Din Jabbar
While law enforcement authorities are investigating the suspect and the explosion, they are exploring apparent connections with Shamsud Din Jabbar. For those unversed, Jabbar drove his truck into a crowd in New Orleans on January 1, 2025.
The suspect was shot dead by the cops after the incident had already killed 15 people. The Mirror UK reported that according to Sheriff Kevin McMahill, the community was, however, not at risk of another explosion.
McMahill claimed that the Las Vegas explosion was an isolated incident. However, as per Daily Mail, both Matthew and Jabbar were reportedly trained at the same military base. Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted a tweet on X on January 1, claiming that the explosion wasn't related to the vehicle. He wrote:
"We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of explosion."
According to Mirror UK, at the site of the explosion, authorities discovered burnt fireworks, gas canisters, and camping fuel in the truck's boot after successfully extinguishing the fire.
