Lady Gaga recently opened up about her romantic proposal from longtime partner Michael Polansky. During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on 1st October, the Joker: Folie à Deux star shared details about the moment Polansky asked her to marry him. The tech entrepreneur and investor popped the question shortly after Gaga’s birthday, adding an unexpected twist to their adventure-filled trip.

"He proposed to me right after my birthday, so my birthday passed, and I was like, ‘Oh, I thought he was going to propose,'" Gaga told host Jimmy Kimmel, recalling her initial thoughts.

Polansky chose to surprise Lady Gaga during a rock climbing trip. She explained,

"We went on a trip together, and we went rock climbing... which was super fun." When asked by Kimmel if she was an avid rock climber, Gaga joked, "I do now. I would do anything for love."

The couple reached the summit, took pictures, and enjoyed the view. However, the proposal happened later, in a less conventional way. Gaga revealed that Polansky sought her permission before officially proposing.

"He actually — it was very Michael — he asked me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed. And I was like, ‘Yes, it’s so okay!'"

Polansky didn’t get down on one knee, but Gaga had no issue with that. She said that she is a 'modern lady', embracing the non-traditional approach.

As for their wedding plans, Lady Gaga mentioned they’ve discussed a more intimate ceremony, perhaps at a courthouse.

"We actually talk a lot about just going to a courthouse, just the two of us, and ordering Chinese food," she shared with a laugh.

Yet, Gaga couldn’t rule out the possibility of something more extravagant.

Polansky, known for running various charities and businesses tied to Facebook co-founder Sean Parker, has also collaborated with Gaga on professional projects. He’s the executive co-producer of Joker: Folie à Deux, the highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s Joker. The couple is also working together on a companion album for the film, titled Harlequin.

Speaking about their professional partnership, Lady Gaga expressed her excitement at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie:

"We were all warmed up and ready to go," she said. She also shared her affection for Polansky, calling him her "best friend" and adding, "I just love my fiancé so much."
