She even went on to talk about some of the group's songs that she loved.
When fans read the interview, they took to social media to discuss how important it was to have someone who could be there and recognize talent even if they don't belong to the same culture.
"It's like someone is there for you if you need someone to confide in, someone who understands and appreciates the message of your work beyond the tunes and lyrics themselves. It's like finding a friend in the midst of chaos," a fan wrote on X.
aespa and Grimes' Rolling Stone interview has fans wanting the two to collaborate
Grimes and aespa came together for an interview for the first time during the Rolling Stone interview. The Canadian singer revealed that she had been following the group even before they debuted. She said that she followed them because she saw aespa with the æ letter, something she was obsessed with and which is her son's middle name as well.
She went on to discuss the common ground the two share and how AI concepts inspired both their music.
"I feel like there are so many random things we’ve both done that no one else has done, like the avatars. When I saw that you guys each had your own digital … Are they called AI or æ?" Grimes said.
To this, aespa member Giselle said:
"We started with the metaverse thing because we debuted during Covid, then went on to doing more live performances. We felt very cyber, I guess. And for you, it’s like you started doing live performances and then went on to doing a lot more things in the metaverse"
Agreeing with their statements, Grimes said both the artists made significant use of music.
"I think it’s kind of beautiful. I feel like limitations are really good in art, and you guys made great use of that limitation. Live music is nice, but there’s a lot of innovation that can happen in the music video," she said.
The group and Grimes continued to discuss various topics, including their exercise routines and NINGNING being Grimes' fangirl.
As fans read their interview, they could feel the amount of respect and the innovative ideas the artists have for music and their work. Fans also noticed how, despite facing many challenging situations, aespa was able to meet Grimes. The Canadian singer wondered if the group even knew about her and they confirmed that they did and were fans of hers.
MYs are eager for a future collaboration between aespa and Grimes. They said can't wait to hear about their upcoming projects.
In the aforementioned interview, Grimes also asked if they face backlash from K-media, to which the group replied that they do. The Canadian singer then shared her two favorite songs from the group, including Giselle’s Metaverse Rap in Girls and Ningning’s pre-chorus in Girls.
MYs are currently hoping for a possible collaboration between aespa and Grimes.
