Paris' Grévin Museum, often referred to as the French counterpart of Madame Tussauds, recently unveiled a statue of Dwayne Johnson. But the statue almost immediately faced massive backlash for making the Samoan actor's skin color extremely white.

It also sparked an online trollfest, with netizens sharing their humorous opinions all over X (formerly known as Twitter). After the initial backlash, the museum almost immediately pledged to update it, unveiling a new statue on Wednesday, October 25, while also admitting their mistake.

Veronique Berecz, the museum’s head of PR, said:

“We found his reaction rather friendly when addressing the fact that his figure was indeed whiter than it should have been. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to meet Dwayne Johnson so we used several photos — but as it turns out, pictures can be very tricky because the nuances of skin tones can differ depending on the lighting on photos.”

However, the new statue (updated) also did not look too different from the previous one, leading to more humorous content on social media platforms.

The major reason for the backlash faced by the initial version of Dwayne Johnson's statue seems to be almost unaltered in the new version, which was unveiled today. The primary reason for the rapid rectification of the same was because of the backlash that followed the event.

Many fans compared the first version of the actor's statue to Mr. Clean, the mascot of the clearing product. But it seems that it will take more than just this to impress fans, who are still having a good laugh about the new statue.
