On January 10, outgoing President Joe Biden spoke to reporters at the White House. During the interview, a reporter asked him whether he planned to pre-pardon himself or any family members. The president looked quite surprised and responded:

"For myself? What would I pardon myself for? No, I have no contemplation of pardoning myself for anything. I didn’t do anything wrong."

The conversation quickly gained attention online, with many netizens flooding X to respond to the President's assertion that he didn't need to pardon himself. One X user tweeted:

"Meanwhile Trump is a convicted felon."

Some netizens speculated whether the outgoing president was indirectly implying that his son Hunter had done something wrong. For the unaware, the President pardoned Hunter last month for tax evasion and gun-related felonies. A user tweeted:

"So he admits Hunter did wrong then."
"So he's conceding that his son did something wrong for an entire decade," added another tweet.
"I guess he just admitted that his fair-haired son, Hunter, did something wrong?" asked a netizen.

Other netizens held the perspective that the current president had never engaged in any incriminating behavior. A user tweeted:

"You can say whatever you want about Biden but you’ll never call him a criminal, unlike the convicted felon MAGAtards elected."
"Exactly Trump doesn't have anything on Biden. Republicans made up that story to win elections!" added a tweet.

Joe Biden discusses pre-pardoning Anthony Fauci, Rep. Liz Cheney, and others

On January 8, 2025, Joe Biden had an exclusive conversation with USA Today, during which he discussed the possibility of pre-pardoning individuals like Anthony Fauci and Rep. Liz Cheney.

As per the BBC, Fauci has faced massive scrutiny from several Republican lawmakers for his response to COVID-19. Meanwhile, Cheney has previously criticized Trump following the attack on the US Capitol in 2021.

The outgoing president also mentioned his intention to issue more pardons during a Friday conversation with reporters at the White House. He noted that he had some factors to consider, in mind, before confirming a pre-pardon. According to Biden, a prominent factor would be Trump's "broadcasts" about his plans. The outgoing president added:

"The idea that he (Trump) would punish people for not adhering to what he thinks should be policy as related to his well-being is outrageous, but there is still consideration of some folks but no decision."

During the Friday conversation, Biden touched on several other topics, including Mark Zuckerberg's decision to eliminate fact-checkers from Meta and replace them with community notes. The current president described this move as "shameful" on Mark's part.

As for Trump, his inauguration is scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2025, after which he will begin his second term as the US president. The ceremony would be broadcast on prominent networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, CSPAN, and Fox News.
