A former contestant on Celebrity MasterChef, Melanie Sykes, recently disclosed that she decided to give up her television career after spending time with the show’s host Gregg Wallace in 2021. She wrote in her 2023 book Illuminated: Autism & All The Things I’ve Left Unsaid that when she first appeared on the show, she felt Wallace's question about whether models eat was "unprofessional" and filled with "ignorance and disrespect".

The 54-year-old further told the Mail on December 3 that she wanted to leave the show because she thought Wallace's behavior on set was "jaw-dropping" and that he allegedly frequently "barked orders."

Sykes then added:

“I didn't know what to say, so I smiled and said "yes", but I was really thinking, 'Yes, you have finally helped me decide to end my television career once and for all.'"

As per SurreyLive's December 3 report, the broadcaster, whose current net worth according to the Celebrity Net Worth is $5 million, also revealed to her YouTube viewers that, while making an appearance in the early 2020s, she had filed an informal complaint against the BBC program.
