The much-anticipated variety show Queendom Puzzle announced its premiere date with a grand video teaser released on May 9, 2023. Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon was the main character in the video and narrated the meaning behind the show. The K-pop star was selected as the show’s host.
Queendom Puzzle aims to bring together female active and inactive idols who fit together like puzzle pieces to debut as a project girl group. The 36-second teaser starts with the silhouettes of the participants and ends with Taeyeon’s remarks,
“Complete the best combination among girl bands! ‘Queendom Puzzle.'”
The teaser also revealed the premiere date set for June 13, 2023, at 10 pm KST. Like other Mnet shows, it is also expected to broadcast its episodes live on its YouTube channel.
Queendom Puzzle reveals much-anticipated premiere date after confirming a part of the participant lineup
On May 9, 2023, Mnet released a video teaser announcing the premiere date and time of their anticipated variety show, Queendom Puzzle. The teaser gives a glimpse into the female participants and the show’s host, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon.
After weeks of teasing, the show is all set for release on June 13, 2023. Queendom Puzzle is the spin-off show of its successful predecessor, Queendom, a dance competition show among female idol groups. Queendom’s popularity led to two seasons of Kingdom, its male equivalent.
The show raised curiosity when reports revealed a part of its participant lineup last month on April 24. Mnet later confirmed the same.
As per reports, former IZ*ONE member Lee Chae-yeon, former CLC member Jang Yeeun, former MOMOLAND member JooE, former Produce 48 contestant Shiroma Miru, LABOUM's Haein, Lovelyz's Kei, H1-KEY's Riina and Hwiseo and Weeekly members will be participating in survival show.
It is not yet revealed whether all Weeekly members or only a few will participate in the show.
Fans awaiting the variety show will be shown the entire participant lineup in the coming weeks. Mnet will release the full artist lineup through performance videos sequentially from May 18 to 25 on its music show, MCountdown.
Meanwhile, Mnet is infamous for many variety shows, including idol group survival, rap competition, and dance competition shows. Many of its idol survival shows are based on votes, making them popular among the general public. It still has its charms, despite several controversies about rigged votes and editing content maliciously, among other things.
Project idol groups and competition shows are also common in the K-pop industry. They are often seen as a way to get more exposure among the general public. So far, in 2023 alone, four idol survival shows have already aired. These are Boys Planet, Girls Re:Verse, Fantasy Boys, and Peak Time.
Multiple broadcast networks take part in their own kind of survival shows, hoping to provide something different to the world. Fans now wait to see how Queendom Puzzle will live up to its curiosity and hype once it premieres on June 13, 2023.
