Comedian Tiffany Haddish has gone viral after she shared a bizarre video of herself making out with a dollar note. On Friday, January 3, 2025, Haddish took to her Instagram to share a post about her "relationship with money," writing:
"My relationship with money for the last 10years? We have had our ups and downs over the years, But We are growing and are stronger than ever. #MoneyLove #sheready #shesuccessful."
The post included an old video of Tiffany, wearing a blue top and black pants, making out with a bill. She made several s*xual comments to the note as she kissed it. At one point, she flung herself to the ground and later spanked herself with the bill before adding:
"Please don't leave me, please don't leave me, I love you so much, I love you so much!"
Needless to say, internet users were quick to react. One user liked her past troubles and relationship with rapper Common (they dated for a year before breaking up in March), saying:
"No wonder Common dipped. Her doing this only shows she has no Common sense."
Many noted that the skit was not funny, one even stating it felt like Tiffany Haddish was struggling with substance abuse or mental illness. Here are some comments seen under @theshaderoom's post on Instagram:
Others called it cringe, stating the comedian was too old to do this.
More about Tiffany Haddish's struggles with money
Tiffany Haddish rose to fame playing the lead in the comedy film Girls Trip (2017). She has since appeared in movies and shows like The Carmichael Show (2015-2017), The Afterparty (2022-2023), Nobody's Fool (2018), The Kitchen (2019), and Like a Boss (2020).
In a July 2024 interview on the We Playin' Spades podcast, the comedian revealed that before fame, she struggled with her finances. Citing the episode, Complex explained she sold her "panties" on Craigslist, telling her customers they belonged to Halle Berry. She used to pretend to be the actress's housekeeper, Rosalinda, to lure the customers, adding that she made $300 of it (didn't specify how frequently).
Per the publication, Tiffany Haddish also revealed that when she was younger, many told her she looked like Halle Berry. The comedian explained she used it to her advantage, frequently using her name to get into clubs, saying she was the actress' niece.
In an August 2022 profile on Tiffany Haddish, Cosmopolitan reported that Haddish made $80,000 from her role in Girls Trip, which she used to pay off her home loan.
"People told me to spend it in other ways, but I used it to pay off the house because I was always afraid of being homeless again," Haddish told the publication.
In January 2018, the comedy actress told Vanity Fair that during the early days of her career, she lived in her car and even once took a $300 loan from fellow comedy actor Kevin Hart. After finding success, she offered to pay him back, but he refused to accept the money.
Last February, Tiffany Haddish pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor called "wet reckless," which dismissed her DUI (Driving Under the Influence) charges (the case stemmed from a DUI arrest in Beverly Hills in November 2023). As a result, she was placed on a year of summary probation, had to complete a driver's education course, and complete 40 hours of community service.
Haddish has not publicly reacted to the comments on her video.
