The Greene County Sheriff's Office arrested Chris Chan on August 1, 2021. She was charged with inc*st stemming from a leaked phone conversation that suggested she had an intimate relationship with her 79-year-old mother.

A Greene County judge dismissed Chris Chan's case in August 2023
Chris Chan became popular online in the late 1990s by creating the Sonichu (a crossover between Sonic the Hedgehog and Pikachu) webtoon. However, not all attention was positive, and several internet users mocked her for her art style. A decade later, she was running her YouTube channel.
Per Business Insider India, Chan's life has been heavily documented online in online forums like 4chan and Kiwi Farms. This includes doxxing, hacking, and even impersonating potential partners and later leaking their exchanges online. It even sparked a dedicated wiki page, CWCwiki.
However, in a statement given to the publication, Christine's lawyer, David Heilberg, cautioned:
"Ms. Chandler's frequent and sometimes over the top presence on the internet is partly a product of mental health issues causing misguided attention seeking and often provocative engagement with others."
The body cam footage shows arresting officers expressing shock at Chris Chan's infamy. At one point, looking at stalkers gathered outside her home, an officer exclaimed:
"Oh my f*cking god what is this?"
While another added:
"What the heck is going on right now?"
Chris Chan explains she is famous on the internet, and hence they are recording her arrest, even stating this was a "celebrity scandal."
Following her arrest, Chan was charged with a class-five felony. However, on August 8, 2023, a Greene County judge dismissed Chris Chan's case.
The dismissal came after her attorney filed a motion for an autism disorder deferred disposition. The motion allows Virginia courts to consider alternative sentences for criminals with intellectual disabilities. Per her biography on IMDB, Christine has high-functioning autism.
There have been no updates about Chan's life at the time of this writing.
