"Only sorry cause you got caught": Internet reacts as Young Thug issues apology to Mariah the Scientist over Leena Sayed jail call

Rapper Young Thug recently expressed regret to Mariah the Scientist, his alleged partner, over his reported leaked jail call with Leena Sayed. On Tuesday, December 24, Thug took to X to upload posts addressing Mariah and acknowledging the online speculation surrounding him and Sayed's jail call.

Issuing the apology, on the same day, Thug tweeted:

"Sorry to my baby for all this bullshit on the internet. I love u baby and f*ck em all we know what's up with us.. AySayTwin.. I love yo game more than life mommy.. She so mad, I said merry Christmas and she said thank u..."

The Atlanta rap artist then expressed regret to his partner, who he said was aware of the depth of their bond. The Business is Business rapper further claimed that his partner is not pleased with him since she is ignoring him on Christmas.

This happened after his apparent two-year-old jail chat with Sayed went viral. During the jail conversation, Sayed she just wanted to be with Thug and no one else, and she apologized for something she said. Furthermore, Sayed was seen becoming emotional during the phone call in the leaked video. She also said to Young Thug in the leaked video:

“I don’t like anyone... I want you.”

Meanwhile, once Thug's apology went public, people took to Instagram and under theshaderoom’s post to react to the same thing. One even alleged that he is “only sorry” because he got caught.

Others also reacted similarly. One alleged that he apparently used "reverse psychology." Another one said that he allegedly couldn't appreciate her love.

Others also preached to the choir with one saying that he was allegedly only sorry because the call went public and another one criticizing him for the comment.

On the other hand, many people supported him and said he didn't need to apologize. Another one alleged that Mariah "put him" through hell.

Young Thug apologized to Mariah after his call with Sayed went viral

On Monday, December 23, Young Thug responded to the same using X. According to the rapper's message, the call was misinterpreted. Thug appeared to call Sayed just his "twin" in his post, adding that they were having a serious discussion. Additionally, he said that he had no idea why Sayed became emotional and talked about loving people.

He wrote:

“Man me and twin was talking bout some whole other serious sh*t, I don't know y she spoke on loving other people or anything else cause ain giving no f*ck bout no h*es or ni*gas.. I'm the capital P lol that's my twin and nothing else. Never have never will lol…”

The leaked video has gone viral, as Thug has been dating rapper Mariah The Scientist both before and during his whole 906-day jail sentence.

This happened after a leaked jail call between Instagram model Leena Sayed and Young Thug went viral in December 2024. Sayed talked about her feelings for the rapper throughout the call when he told her to "move on." At one point, Thug even allegedly broke down in tears while Sayed sobbed over a perceived transgression.

According to reports, this discussion happened in 2022, before Sayed and boxer Devin Haney were married. Sayed is "just a friend," Young Thug, who was recently freed from prison after serving time on RICO charges, clarified in response to the issue.

After that, Sayed also addressed the same controversy in a post on Instagram on December 23. She claimed that the video was created before her relationship with her alleged partner, Devin Haney. She also wrote:

“That video was before I met my bd [baby daddy].”

Additionally, Sayed denied further conversations with Young Thug or other men. On the other hand, after the call and Thug's apology, Mariah hasn't said anything as of yet.
