"Princess Diana would've loved her": Internet reacts as Dubai Princess Sheikha Mahra divorces her husband via an Instagram post

The daughter of the ruler of Dubai, Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, seems to have made her divorce public on social media. She announced the dissolution of her marriage in a post on Tuesday, July 16, from her verified Instagram account. The message that opened with "Dear Husband" read-

"As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce.”

It concluded with-

“I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”

Here, she seemingly used the Islamic practice known as triple talaq, which is used to divorce the spouse.

Nevertheless, social media users have been showing their excitement over the news, and many have noticed that the couple deleted all of their mutually posted photographs from their Instagram accounts and unfollowed each other.

BBC reported that while some claimed that the two had blocked each other on social media, others questioned whether Sheikha Mahra's account had been hacked.

Meanwhile, once the news went viral, netizens took to X and Instagram to react to the same and support her.

“Princess Diana would’ve loved her”, said one user.

“LMFAO SHE REALLY SAID “F*CK THE PAPERS IM DOING A POST”, commented one user.

“This is probably the coldest way to divorce your husband lmaoo she's a savage fr”, wrote one X user.

Dubai Princess Sheikha Mahra accused her husband of infidelity

A year after their marriage, Dubai Princess Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and her longtime spouse Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum called it quits.

Sheikha Mahra is the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister and vice president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as the ruler of Dubai.

She is one of the ruler of Dubai's 26 children. She is of Greek and Emirati descent according to her mother, Zoe Grigorakos. Grigorakos was later divorced by her husband.

In 2023, the couple tied the knot and became members of their respective royal families. The pair made their engagement known in March 2023 through the Arabian Royal Agency. In June 2023, a grand wedding reception took place in Dubai.

They also threw an extravagant gender reveal party in February 2024 and welcomed their first child in May 2024. Following that, Sheikha Mahra expressed gratitude to her doctor and medical staff for their care, gushing about her "most memorable experience" of giving birth.

Her spouse, Sheikh Mana, was pictured holding their child in his arms in pictures that have since been removed. However, a few weeks later, the princess posted a picture of herself holding her child on Instagram with the caption-

"Just the two of us."

Later, on July 16, Sheikha Mahra made the world aware through an Instagram post that she is divorcing her husband, accusing him of allegedly being "busy with his other companions" and hinting at an affair.

Additionally, it looks like Sheikha Mahra's account has been cleared of all pictures of her spouse. Similarly, Sheikh Mana's account doesn't appear to have any images of his wife.
