Netizens criticized Elon Musk after it was revealed that he had given the name originally chosen by his ex-partner Grimes to his daughter with Shivon Zillis. Musk had been in an on-and-off relationship with Grimes, the Canadian singer for the past four years. They have three kids together - X Æ A-12, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus.
In an interview with Business Insider, Kate Conger and Ryan Mac discussed the baby-naming fiasco between Musk's partners, Grimes and Shivon Zillis. Conger and Mac are the authors of Character Limit: How Elon Musk Destroyed Twitter.
According to sources, the former couple had previously chosen the name Valkyrie for their daughter, but Musk used it for one of his twins with Shivon Zillis.
"Elon and Grimes had picked out a name for their daughter that they wanted to use. That name ended up being used for one of Shivon Zilis's twins with Elon. When Grimes found out about it, obviously, she was very upset. She posted some song lyrics that she had written about the name essentially being stolen from her," explained Conger.
Conger continued:
"Shivon ended up changing that child's name, which is how the existence of Shivon's children came to light to the public, actually, because the name change paperwork became public."
Mac explained the rest, revealing that Grimes didn't know that Shivon Zillis was pregnant with Elon Musk's twins. The twin girl was named Valkyrie Alice Zillis - the same name Musk and Grimes had discussed for their daughter.
"Shivon's daughter ends up being called Azure, and Grimes's daughter is Exa. So, the name Valkyrie is effectively erased from all of Musk's family for all intents and purposes," Mac concluded.
