TV personality Khloe Kardashian is facing the heat online after her recent comments about Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. This weekend, Khloe took to her Instagram stories to opine on the ongoing wildfires in the city.

Kardashian shared a video of LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley telling reporters that budget cuts hindered firefighters from combating the fires.

"I stand by YOU Chief Crowley!!!! You spoke the truth and you had tears in your eyes because I can tell you didn't even want to say that but it was THE TRUTH!!!!," she said before adding, "Mayor Bass you are a joke."

As news of Khloe Kardashian's story went viral, internet users were quick to react. One stated:

Many called Khloe a hypocrite for her family's water usage. Here are some comments seen under @PopCrave's post on X:

"they are the reason the city has no water for the common people but have the nerve to criticize the mayor smh," one wrote.
"but her lawn, her grass has to stay green!!" another commented.
"water usage like that should be a fu**ing crime are you insane," a person added.

Others argued that their water usage had nothing to do with the mayor's incompetence.

"The Kardashian’s water usage is not the reason California is a dumpster fire," one noted.
"Good!! Call it like it is. Issues cannot be fixed if we don't acknowledge mistakes were made. People died. I'm glad she said something," another added.
"Two things can be true, the mayor is incompetent and her sister use to much water," a user reacted.

Khloe Kardashian and her family were forced to evacuate due to the fires in Kenneth

Los Angeles and its neighboring cities have been engulfed in flames since Tuesday, January 7. What started as a bushfire in the Pacific Palisades spread across 36,000 (in areas like Eaton, Kenneth, San Fernando Valley, and Lidia) acres by Saturday. The disaster was fueled by high winds (80-100 mph), and first responders are still battling wildfires.

Khloe Kardashian's comments come after LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley's recent interview with Fox11. On Friday, Crowley criticized Mayor Karen Bass for budget cuts that have allegedly hindered the city's ability to combat the wildfires.

"My message is the fire department needs to be properly funded," Crowley said, adding, "It’s not."

Citing Los Angeles City Controller Kenneth Mejia, Fox 11 reported that the city cut its fire department's (LAFD) fund by $17.6 million. Crowley claimed that the "budget cuts" impacted their ability to "provide service."

Khloe Kardashian and her family evacuated their homes after fires erupted in the Kenneth area. Amid the reports, an LA Times article published in August 2022 calling out Khloe's sisters, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, for overshooting their water usage (101,000 gallons and 232,000 gallons, respectively) began circulating online.

According to NBC News, the fires have razed around 12,300 structures and swept through 40,000 acres. While several fires have been contained, firefighters continue battling the biggest ones in Palisades (13%) and Eaton (27%). Further, evacuation orders remain for 105,000 residents.

Per NBC, at least 24 people have lost their lives to the disaster. Reports suggest the high winds will persist through Wednesday.

Khloe Kardashian has not publicly commented on the public reaction.
