Popular food blogger and model Nara Smith was accused of stealing a video concept from TikTok creator @marykorlindowns. The former went viral recently following her partnership with Marc Jacobs, where she seemingly made a red shoulder bag “from scratch,” as she does for her other recipes.
On July 23, 2024, Marc Jacobs took to their official Instagram account to share a video of Nara Smith creating their iconic piece, The Tote Bag, “from scratch.” In the video, one can see the 22-year-old model mixing flour, eggs, water, and red food coloring to create a dough. She then kneads the same and places it in the oven.
A while later, she opens the oven to see a fully formed red purse, which she places on her shoulder. Smith also said in the video, “It tasted so much better than a shop-bought tote bag.”
Since the video went viral, TikTok creator @marykorlindowns has taken to the internet to seemingly accuse Nara Smith of allegedly copying the video’s concept from her. The TikToker said:
“It was actually two videos I feel she took from me and made it to be one video for Marc Jacobs… I’m kind of upset that they [Marc Jacobs] let that one slide.”
However, it appears that not many found any issues with Nara Smith allegedly taking inspiration from the TikToker’s videos. Netizens have now taken to social media platforms to defend as the influencer addressed the alleged stolen Marc Jacobs video concept.

“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with recreating content y’all need to chill a bit yoh,” one netizen said.
“So what lmao the whole internet is filled with stolen content. You would have a heart attack on fb if you visited there lmao,” another user said.
Evidently, not many found it to be a problem that Nara Smith and TikToker’s video concepts were seemingly identical. Meanwhile, other reactions on X(formerly Twitter) read:
“IT ISNT THAT DEEP LOG OFF,” an X user said.
“People recreate trends on TikTok all the time without crediting the original creators, but when it's Nara there's an issue always,” another platform user said.
“Who tf cares,” another user said.
At the time of writing this article, Nara Smith herself had not addressed the TikToker’s claims of her allegedly stealing the video concept.
“I’m so confused when it comes to this whole chat. Isn’t TikTok all about following trends?? I haven’t seen a video where she claims that a recipe is her original idea,” an X user said.
“this is part and parcel of any platform, can we just chill,” another netizen said.
“People act like they’re the first to do everything,” one user commented.
This is not the first time Nara Smith has been accused of stealing video concepts
In June 2024, South African content creator Onezwa Mbola took to TikTok to allege that Nara Smith stole her video concepts of creating dishes from scratch. The former claimed that the latter stole her idea of creating boba tea, cream cheese, and mozzarella from the beginning.
After Mbola shared the accusations online she was hit with a legal threat where the mother of three threatened to sue her for “defamation of character," as per Mbola.
Mbola expressed online that she was disappointed with Smith as she was not getting paid by Instagram for her content, unlike Nara.
