TikToker Keith Lee took to TikTok to address his viral BET Awards moment with Taraji P Henson. The event was held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, and Henson was hosting it when she accidentally referred to YouTuber Jordan Howlett as the TikToker.

While Taraji realized her mix-up and apologized to Lee and Howlett, Lee didn't seem too happy with the incident. Keith Lee dissed the actress for her hosting skills and even posted a video on social media where he was seen throwing the rose that the BET Awards 2024 host had given him. In the caption for the video, he wrote:

"Our name will be known in every room its supposed to be, when it’s supposed to be, how it’s supposed, with no confusion God is Amazing #thankful”

While the video has since been deleted from the platform, netizens weren't too pleased with his response and took to social media to call him out with many calling him "dramatic."

When they saw the post, netizens were dissatisfied with the TikToker's supposed shade at the Empress star. While many agreed that it was a "mess up," they did note that what Lee was doing was a "bit much." Many felt that the 27-year-old’s reaction was unwarranted, considering that Henson apologized to him immediately.

What happened between Keith Lee and Taraji P Henson at the BET Awards? Details revealed as Lil Scrappy advises the TikToker

During a segment of the 2024 BET Awards, the host, Taraji P Henson, gave certain celebrities flowers in an attempt to impress them and show her excitement. She approached YouTuber Jordan Howlett and jokingly seemed to flirt with him before accidentally calling him Keith Lee.

“I know what you’re thinking right now, this is about a 10.9 out of 10,” Henson said.

When Jordan Howlett pointed towards Keith Lee as the person Henson was referring to, she turned towards the former MMA star, who was sitting two seats away from him. She apologized for the accident and said that she "got caught up" in her "own inner monologue."

“I got caught up in my own inner monologue, I’m so sorry. You fine too. So call me. Give him his flower,” the actress said.

After Keith Lee took to TikTok to address the incident, rapper Lil Scrappy responded to it with a comment on July 1, 2024. He advised the social media personality to forgive the actress and not take the mistake to heart. Lil Scrappy said that it "was an honest mistake" that happened to everyone.

“It was an honest mistake my boy happens to us all, but on the real your name known for being a food critic and it worked but sometimes it doesn’t so be coo buddy but we gotta be better at recognizing and respecting our people it works both ways,” the rapper commented.

Keith Lee then took to TikTok to address his now-deleted video and opined that he "wholeheartedly believed" that it wasn't his rose or his moment. He added that he had nothing against Taraji P Henson and the BET Awards incident.

"That entire segment on the production side felt extremely rushed. Not only did it feel rushed, it did not feel intentional, it did not feel purposeful," he added.

Lee went on to reveal that he and his wife were initially seated in different seats but were brought to different seats purely for the Hidden Figures star's bit. He noted that this was "very unprofessional" from the production's end. He also clarified that he never wanted the spotlight and ended his statement by saying that he "appreciated the opportunity," but it wasn't his moment.

Jordan Howlett had not taken to the internet to address the incident at the time of writing this article.
