Donald Trump addressed the crowd in Manhattan on October 27, giving people an idea of what a second presidency led by him could look like. The state is reportedly believed to be inclined towards the Republican's Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.
However, a reported figure of around 19,000 people turned up at the MAGA leader's rally, with red MAGA hats visible all over the city. New York has not voted for a Republican nominee since Ronald Reagan in 1984.
Elon Musk introduced Melania Trump during Trump's Madison Square Garden rally
Trump's rally at the Madison Square Garden on Sunday, October 27, lasted 7 hours, with Tesla CEO Elon Musk introducing former First Lady Melania Trump to the crowd after around four hours.
Trump's wife has been largely absent during his second presidential campaign. The former First Lady was present at the Republican National Convention in July but did not address the crowd.
After the first alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump on July 13, she released an official statement in support of her husband. She also gave an interview to Fox News in September about the release of her new book, Melania.
Speaking for the first time at one of her husband's rallies this election season, the former First Lady briefly talked about “declining quality of life” and “economic instability” in the United States.
"New York City and America needs their magic back. Let us start together with a shared vision that builds on American greatness. Let's seize this moment and create a country for tomorrow, the future that we deserve," she said.
Ahead of Melania Trump's speech, Elon Musk also discussed the upcoming role of the Department of Government Efficiency. Donald Trump said he would appoint Musk to lead the department, which will focus on cutting government spending. Musk encouraged people to vote so the Republicans could achieve a "massive, crushing victory," considering it a "real election battle."
The November 5 presidential elections are expected to be a close battle. Per FiveThirtyEight’s national polling average, Kamala Harris leads Trump by 1.3 votes. However, RealClearPolitics’ polling average reported the Republican nominee leading Harris by 0.1 votes.
