Actress and comedian Nikki Glaser has reportedly been chosen to host the Golden Globes award ceremony in 2026. The 40-year-old made her debut hosting the award show at the 2025 Golden Globes ceremony, held at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 5, 2025.

This year, Glaser made history by becoming the first woman to host the show on her own. Fans and critics publicly waxed lyrical about her performance, especially her monologue containing subjects like Diddy, Timothee Chalamet, the newly engaged Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, and Ozempic. As per Deadline, she had inked a three-year deal in 2024 to host the revamped version of the Golden Globes.

Fans online quickly reacted to the news that she would be hosting the award show for the second time. One X user compared her hosting gig at the 2025 Golden Globes to an audition for next year's ceremony, writing:

"So this year was the audition then..."

Many netizens praised Glaser for her exceptional comedic talent.

"She’s one of the best comedians out there right now for real. I saw her in person recently and she is seriously exceptional," opined another.
"Nikki Glaser to host 2026 Golden Globes, comedic talent shines bright," added another.

However, given the long time until the next ceremony, some found the decision questionable and premature.

"Nikki Glaser hosting the 2026 Golden Globes is a questionable choice according to DEADLINE. Her comedic style may not be the right fit for the event's tone and other comedians were likely better suited," wrote a user.
"Very cool!! But damn seems a bit too soon to make these decisions. It’s a long ways a way," declared another user.
"Two things I love about the Globes? They always manage to have a great host, and the fact they allow people to drink. That really improves the vibe," quipped a fan on X.

Some other reactions on X are as follows:

"Nikki Glaser hosting the 2026 Golden Globes? Get ready for some sharp wit and unforgettable moments," declared a fan.
"Yes, roast more celebrities to filth!" joked another.
"Exciting news! Nikki Glaser’s sharp wit and humor will definitely bring a fresh vibe to the 2026," inferred a user on X.

Nikki Glaser claimed that she was paid less than a past male host for hosting Golden Globes 2025

On January 6, 2025, Nikki Glaser appeared on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show and reminisced about her first hosting gig at the Golden Globes. Talking about her remuneration for hosting the Golden Globes 2025, she said:

"I got paid pretty, I'm good with that."

She also mentioned that the 40-year-old's paycheck came up short when compared to the sum received by a past male host. However, Glaser seemingly wasn't too heartbroken and opined that she would be paid more next year.

"There was a past host who said how much he got paid in his monologue and I got less than that, but that's OK. I'll get more next year."

Glaser's comments seemingly referred to Jerrod Carmichael, who hosted the 2023 Golden Globes. In his monologue during the award show, Carmichael revealed that he was paid half a million dollars for his efforts. The 37-year-old even spoke about having second thoughts about hosting the show because of its past controversies regarding diversity. However, the money motivated him.

Despite admitting the disparity in the paychecks, Nikki Glaser claimed that she would have hosted the 2025 Golden Globes even for free. The Comedy Central star stated:

"The first year, when you're just trying to prove yourself, I honestly would've done it for free. It's an insane platform to be on. It's not about the money for me."

Nikki Glaser isn't the only host to have openly admitted that they weren't doing the Golden Globes hosting gig for money. Back in January 2020, Ricky Gervais, who has been a frequent host at the award show, admitted that the paycheck wasn't why he accepted the gig.
