On July 30, United States Vice President Kamala Harris attended her 2024 presidential campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia. During her speech, the Democratic presidential nominee talked about the border laws in the country.

Kamala Harris claimed that former President Donald Trump failed to secure the southern border during his tenure. While doing so, she name-dropped rapper, singer, and record producer Quavo and one of his popular rap lyrics to slam her Republican opponent.

“Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been talking big game about securing our border but he does not walk the walk. Or as my friend Quavo would say, he does not ‘walk it like he talks it,’” Harris mentioned.

It was a reference to the 2018 single Walk It, Talk It by hip-hop trio Migos comprising Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset and featuring Drake. Incidentally, the song was played multiple times at the venue before the rally took off.

Her statement was received with a round of applause from the audience, including Quavo himself, who was present at the campaign rally to show support for Kamala Harris.

The video of her speech has now gone viral across all social media platforms including X, where users are having diverse reactions. For instance, a user with the handle @N8TheCre8tive shared the clip and wrote in her caption:

“Straight from a Boondocks episode.”

Several others joined in the conversation. Some claimed that the 2024 election was no different from a “rap battle.”

“Got my vote idc how many rap lyrics she quote,” a person wrote.
“Quoting Quavo to diss Trump? It's official: the 2024 election is now a rap battle,” one person wrote.
“Rap lyrics as policy. Let’s NOT get that for our county,” another person wrote.

Many called her hip-hop reference “cringeworthy.”

“This is so cringe… I suspect they will start to put a lid on her campaign, just like they did Biden,” a netizen wrote.
“I'm too old for this. She's turning the #cringe up to 11. I hope the people see through her new jive talk and call it out,” one netizen wrote.
“This is so cringe,” another netizen wrote.

Others made fun of Kamala Harris' accent.

“Kamala is the new Karen,” an individual wrote.
“Please. Not the fake southern accent,” another individual wrote.

Elsewhere in her speech, Kamala Harris challenged Donald Trump to meet her on the “debate stage,” adding, “If you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.”

Exploring in brief, Quavo’s speech at Kamala Harris’ rally

At Kamala Harris’ first campaign rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, hip-hop star Quavo came to show support for her. He began by saying how he has worked closely with the Vice President over the years to tackle gun violence.

“One thing I learned about working with Vice President Harris is she always stands on business. From inviting me to the White House last year to discuss these solutions to passing the biggest gun safety laws today. So, it’s only right in the birthplace of the culture, it’s also the same place that launched the first African-American woman to run for president,” Quavo stated.

He also urged people to be a part of “changing the culture” and “make sure you get out and vote right now ‘cause it’s the real one.”

“And in the words of my brother Takeoff, let me get a ‘Kamala,'” he added.

Notably, Takeoff, who was a former Migos member and Quavo’s nephew, was fatally shot in 2022, following which the Workin’ Me rapper launched the nonprofit Rocket Foundation to battle gun violence in the USA. He has also been closely involved with the Harris-led Federal Office of Gun Violence Prevention and met with her at the White House last September during its inception.
