Fans have been divided over actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt's explanation of Donald Trump's proposed tax plan. In an 82-second video posted on X, Joseph Gordon-Levitt provided his explanation of Trump's tax plans and why it is allegedly worse than Kamala Harris' tax proposal.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt also iterated why he doesn't want the $70,000 tax break that Trump wants to give to wealthy Americans like him.

The actor explained that Donald Trump's tax plans may sound lucrative at first, but they only help the top 1% or the top 0.1% of the economy, leaving very little for the working class.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's statements have divided the internet, and fans have voiced their opinion on X. Some have lauded Joseph Gordon-Levitt for his ideals while others have criticized him. Here are some popular reactions on X:

"Ok. Take that $70k and give it to charity," commented one fan on X.
"Imagine letting actors control your political opinion," opined another.
"Look, another rich celebrity disassociated from the average American," tweeted one netizen.

Many people lavished praise on Joseph Gordon-Levitt for allegedly siding with an average American despite being in the top 1% of earners.

"Now, there's a decent, successful rich dude—who knows it's time to help other people. Respect," commented one netizen.
"just when I think I can't love this man any more than I already do, he always does something more to cement it, I respect him to the fullest," agreed another.
"May you experience the greatest return on your investment in the future of democracy for all of US. This is how you do it. Bravo, Joseph !" raved another person on X.

Some of the other popular tweets on this matter are:

"No one is stopping you from cutting a check Joseph. Pay whatever you want. The top 5% already pay 76% of all the taxes," wrote one on X.
"What brutal honesty and integrity. Joesph is so down to earth and relatable. He understands that America needs the middle class, and that the 1 percent are already well taken care of. We cannot afford four more years of Donald Trump. Thank you Mr.Levitt," opined another netizen.
"Harris wants to tax unrealized capital gains. So, you will have to pay a tax on the increased value of your home even though you didn't sell it and don't plan on selling it. I think that will hurt more people you fool. You read lines for a living, leave the economy to experts," asserted someone else on X.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt dived deep into Donald Trump's tax policy and iterated why he thought Kamala Harris' tax plan was better for the average American compared to Donald Trump's. Joseph Gordon-Levitt explained that nearly half of the tax benefits in Trump's plan will go to the top 5% of the American population.

“So Donald Trump wants to give me $70,000 in tax cuts, per year. And by the way, he doesn’t want to give that to everybody, but I just read that’s the average tax break for the top 1%, if Donald Trump is elected president,” said Levitt.

The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School also conducted a thorough study to compare the two tax plans, concluding similar to Joseph Gordon-Levitt's.

"It's true that Trump looks like he's a winner for everybody, but he'll provide much bigger giveaways to the top 1% and top 0.1%, whereas Harris will be negative for these people," said Kent Smetters, faculty director of the Wharton Program in an interview with CBS News Friday.

The study inferred that a person making $81,415 per year would enjoy tax breaks of $1,740. Meanwhile, someone whose salary is $19,595 would only get $320 according to Donald Trump's policy.

The Wharton study also explains why Kamala Harris's plan benefits the masses. According to her policy, the bottom 20% of the population would get a tax relief of $2,355, while those in the middle would have a tax relief of $2,165. However, the top 0.1% of the population would have to pay an additional $167,255.

“Trump’s going to help the same people he always tries to help—the wealthy, himself,” inferred Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The Presidential election race is at its final stages, with just over 2 months to go before the election day (November 5).
