BTS fans aka the ARMYs managed to resurface old X posts made by an Argentinian politician about BTS. The posts were allegedly both xenophobic and discriminatory towards the seven-member K-pop group. The politician, Victoria Villarruel, is currently running for the Vice President position in the 2023 Argentine general elections.

As ARMYs and other netizens came across Villarruel's resurfaced comments about the K-pop group, they were rather unsettled and infuriated. They took to X to call her out for her tweets.

The politician had reportedly been responding to tweets made by netizens in 2020. In a post that a netizen made in February 2020, they said that BTS had a "social work name." Under this, Victoria Villarruel made a discriminatory and disrespectful comment about the band.

Or s*xually transmitted disease," (Translation via X) the politician wrote.

By this, it seemed like she was implying that the name of the band sounded like an STD, which infuriated netizens and ARMYs.

Fans criticized Argentinian politician Victoria Villarruel's alleged xenophobic tweets about BTS

BTS, the seven-member K-pop group that debuted in 2013, has grown to be widely popular, bagging fans from several countries across the world. While they enjoy fame and the spotlight, they are also subjected to negativity, hate, and other xenophobic attacks.

One such recent incident stands to be the resurfacing of Victoria Villarruel's alleged xenophobic X posts about BTS and the Asian community, in general.

ARMYs noticed the politician's comments about the K-pop boy group and found it offensive that she compared it to a s*xually transmitted disease. However, on October 25, the politician also learned about the attention her previous tweets had been garnering and replied to the X post commenting,

As ARMYs went through more of her past X comments and posts, they found other statements of hers that were allegedly xenophobic to Koreans and K-pop idols. Some of these comments include her making fun of K-pop idols and Korean people, in general.

After coming across her past tweets along with her continued alleged xenophobic attitude towards the K-pop group and Koreans, fans have been enraged. As they dug up more information about the politician, they also found allegations and accusations that painted her as a fascist, s*xist, and xenophobic to other cultures and individuals.

Additionally, she also allegedly holds a reputation for being right-winged, a political alignment that's known for its conventional and non-egalitarian objectives. Given that this stands as a sensitive issue, greatly affecting BTS and their stance as South Korean individuals, fans have been firmly expressing their discontent.
