On Monday, December 2, a video of a young girl misbehaving at a Walmart store went viral on social media. The girl, who appeared to be unsupervised in the viral clip, damaged a large part of products on display at the store while both shoppers and staff looked on.

The viral video instigated a discussion about parenting online, with many X users reacting to it. One of them commented that her parents should not only pay for the damages but also be banned from the store for life.

Some netizens addressed that the child's actions hinted at her wanting attention, with reasonable discipline on her parents' part being the ultimate solution. Others suggested that the practice of "spanking kids" could've solved such behavioral problems in children.

"This child obviously wants attention, direction, guidance, restraint… that’s part of the anger. Some reasonable discipline actually suggests being cared about. If a child doesn’t get enough attention they eventually act out accepting negative attention rather than none at all." - commented an X user.
"make spanking kids common again." - wrote another one.
"When I was a kid someone ELSE's parent would have whooped that kid's a** loooong before then and set her straight. That is the result of a lack of parenting. Period." - posted a third user.

Meanwhile, other netizens blamed gentle parenting for the girl's behavior, adding that it was best not to take such a child out at all.

"She'd be out of there in 2 minutes bound and on a month's grounding if she were mine. If this is how she behaves, don't take her out." - replied a fourth user.
"OMG these gentle parenting children are going to be absolute terrorists aren't they" - wrote a fifth one.
"Arrest, charge, and if convicted, fine/imprison the parents/legal-guardians - and make it one that hurts. And advertise doing so. This is lack of parenting (not even inadequate parenting) that causes this." - commented a sixth user.

The video of the incident - which was uploaded by a user called @BGatesIsaPsycho - has since amassed 16 million views, over 13K reshares, 14K comments and 64K likes.

A woman appeared to be coddling the young girl in the Walmart store video

As the video opens, the girl is captured stomping on unknown products lying on the floor in Walmart, after which she begins to take out baked goods from the deli counter and throwing them on the ground.

As two women tried to approach her, the girl moved on to another counter, while another Walmart shopper was heard asking:

"Where is her mother - or whoever she’s with?"

A woman appeared to be following the girl in the video - although it's unclear if she was her mother or not. She also brought down any attempts made by another shopper to bring the little girl under control, saying:

"You don't know what she's going through!"

After the deli counter, the little girl's rampage followed her to a display of sparkling grape juice, where she picked up a bottle and hurled it on the ground, breaking it as the purple liquid spread all over the floor.

After a couple of bottles were shattered by the girl, a man dressed in black - whether or not was he a Walmart staff isn't known - was seen walking towards her, perhaps with the intention of containing the damage. However, before he could reach her, the aforementioned woman from appeared once again, telling him:

"Don't do that to a little girl!"

At the moment, it is not known which state this particular Walmart store is located in. Whether or not the girl's parents were made to pay for the damages she caused in the store hasn't been revealed either.
