An email address belonging to conservative activist Chris Rufo had allegedly been found registered to Ashley Madison, a site meant for married people seeking affairs. Meanwhile, political consultant Lauren Windsor took to X and shared some posts about the same. In the first tweet, she wrote:
"Are there other prominent conservatives on Ashley Madison? I may know of one. Follow me for updates."
This tweet was made after she reshared an article by Politico based on the news that Mark Robinson's e-mail address was found on the controversial online dating service. After the first tweet made on September 20, Windsor posted another one in two parts. In the first part, she wrote:
"Update: Email address belonging to conservative Chris Rufo found in Ashley Madison data dump."
The second part of the tweet read:
"**It's possible that someone else registered his email to the site.** But I confirmed that the registered email is ACTIVE and is HIS... How? I emailed Rufo for comment to that email and HE RESPONDED 😂."
Windsor claimed that she had mailed Rufo using the email that she got from the discreet dating website. According to Windsor, Rufo answered through a separate email address. All these allegations prompted Rufo to respond.
"This is complete bullsh*t, as you admit later in the thread. I have never used 'Ashley Madison," he responded on X.
In a series of tweets, he continued denying the claims made by Windsor. He further added that he was single back in 2014, which according to Windsor was the year when he made the profile.
Rufo concluded by stating that it was a "smear campaign" against him and that he had forwarded the matter to his attorney.
Republican politician Mark Robinson's e-mail address was reportedly found registered to Ashley Madison
The Politico reported that an email address belonging to the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina Mark Robinson was found on Ashley Madison. One of Robinson's advisors, who chose to stay anonymous, spoke to Politico and confirmed that it was indeed Robinson's e-mail.
A spokesperson for the politician, however, denied that he had never made an account on the website. Mike Lonergan, Robinson’s communications director spoke on the issue and said:
"Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson denies that he ever created or used an account on this website."
They claimed that the email address in question had been compromised in several data breaches. Apart from these allegations, on Thursday, CNN reported that Robinson had once posted remarks on a p*rnographic forum. Robinson described these allegations as "salacious tabloid trash."
Ashley Madison was launched in 2002 by Darren J. Morgenstern. Its name reportedly comes from two common female names in North America: Ashley and Madison. The Canadian website reportedly caters to those in a relationship to find other affairs. The controversial dating site's slogan is "Life is short. Have an affair."
