On September 19, POLITICO released a report alleging that an email address linked to Mark Robinson, the North Carolina Lieutenant Governor, had been compromised and appeared in the leaked database of users from a controversial dating site, Ashley Madison.

The internet quickly erupted with reactions, as social media users responded with memes, tweets, and humorous posts across platforms like X. Several netizens reacted to the post made by POLITICO on X. Speculation grew about the possible political and personal ramifications for the North Carolina Lt. Gov. One user on X wrote:

"This gets more juicy by the second lol."

Several other netizens expressed similar sentiments.

"This story just keeps getting better...," one more on X.
"MR on AM? More like Ashley Madison Grant! Am I right, folks? (Laughter and applause)," another on X.

Many users on X called for proof and evidence, suggesting that this would add further depth to the allegations. Some also remarked that this situation likely indicates Robinson is not having a good day.

"Wonder if there tapes ?" one wrote on X.
"Ooooh, he is certainly not having a good day," a netizen on X said.
"That’s how Trump knew he was MLK on steroids," another person wrote.

Moreover, some users on X expressed that they were not surprised by the news and indicated it would not influence their voting decisions. Others noted that if the allegations are true, they should be regarded as Robinson's personal affairs and not a matter of significant public concern.

"This is the only semi-plausible and verifiable accusation against Mark Robinson today. BREAKING: Male politicians often cheat (or, at least, think about cheating). I don't approve of it, but it's not going to flip my vote," one wrote.
"Ok, who’s shocked? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller ?" another on X.
"Who cares? If true, What the man does in his own time is his business," third suggested on X.

As reactions continue to pour in, analysts are debating the impact this controversy might have on Robinson's political future, particularly as he was widely expected to announce his candidacy for governor in the upcoming election cycle.

Mark Robinson's growing controversies: Black nazi statement and Ashley Madison email raise questions

On Thursday, POLITICO released a report alleging that Mark Robinson's email address had been registered on the dating application, Ashley Madison. According to the publication, an adviser to Robinson, speaking under the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the email address in question did belong to Robinson.

However, Robinson’s communications director, Mike Lonergan, told POLITICO that Mark Robinson had not created an account or has never used that website.

"Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson denies that he ever created or used an account on this website," Lonergan said.

Moreover, Robinson's spokesperson suggests that the email address associated with him has been involved in several security incidents where personal information was exposed. Thus, his email address must have been compromised on Ashley Madison as a result of these previous breaches.

The revelation of the email address followed CNN's discovery of older posts allegedly made by Mark Robinson on adult websites. On Thursday, September 19, 2024, CNN reported that Robinson allegedly made multiple remarks on an adult website named "N*de Africa," where he allegedly called himself "Black Nazi."

Additionally, CNN reported a message from October 2010 indicating his alleged support for reinstating slavery.

"Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it [slavery] back. I would certainly buy a few," Robinson allegedly wrote.

The posts on adult websites were reportedly made between 2008 and 2012.

In response to the allegations, Mark Robinson posted a video on X on Thursday, denying all posts and allegations.
