An improvised version of the nursery song The Muffin Man has been going viral on TikTok recently, with many creators using this song to enact some silly skit. This version of the song was sung by the Better Than I Know Myself hitmaker Adam Lambert.
During an April episode of Jimmy Fallon’s game show, That’s My Jam, when Lambert spun the Wheel of Musical Impressions, it landed on Cher, and he had to sing The Muffin Man. The 41-year-old singer crushed the nursery song to the tune of Cher’s 1998 track Believe.
The modern pop-diva twist to the traditional nursery rhyme quickly became famous, and content creators started making videos with Lambert’s rendition of the song.
However, it seems that the overuse of the song has made some people grow bored of it. One Twitter user, @Queen_Slayerjay, shared a TikTok video where two adults and three kids demonstrated a “room service vibes” skit with the children’s song. However, the user wrote that the song was all over TikTok, which was getting annoying.
Adam Lambert delivers his musical genius with The Muffin Man
The episode of Jimmy Fallon’s That’s My Jam featuring Lambert also had other guests, including Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, and Simu Liu. Lambert and Chloe were in one team as they went against Halle and Simu in the music and dance competition series.
He had to sing the nursery song in Cher’s voice, and the singer imitated it almost perfectly. When Fallon asked him if he had a Cher in him, Lambert replied:
“I got it, I got it.”
He eased into the best impression of Cher and belted out the lyrics in the same tenor as the 77-year-old icon and had everybody vibing to the performance.
Previously, Adam Lambert performed a more solemn and majestic rendition of Believe at the 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors on December 2, 2018, where Cher was also present as a self-honoree.
Lambert recently released his fifth studio album, High Drama, a collection of cover songs in February 2023. The album contains new takes on several hits, including Billie Eilish’s Getting Older, Sia’s Chandelier, Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out for a Hero, and a few more.
Content creators can't seem to get over Adam Lambert's The Muffin Man song
Modified renditions of famous songs are not uncommon on social media these days. Recently, nursery rhymes have also entered this genre of viral songs, and The Muffin Man is one of those.
Ever since Adam Lambert's take on the song came out, content creators quickly caught up to the energetic vibe of the song. People are trying different dance steps and short skits based on the song.
It seems that the melody is quite contagious, as it is even rubbing off on people who did not like the song at first. On the other hand, a few people only recently discovered that Adam Lambert sang this version of the nursery rhyme.
The Muffin Man has become one of those melodies that get stuck in one's head, and their brain keeps playing it on a loop at the most random of places and times.
