Meghan Markle recently returned to social media after a long hiatus. On Wednesday, January 1, 3025, the Duchess of Sussex kicked off the new year by sharing a video of herself shot by Prince Harry on Instagram (from the handle @meghan).

The clip shows Markle, dressed in white, running on a beach and writing "2025." According to a report by People Magazine, her husband shot the video at a beach near their home in Montecito, California.

As the video went viral, internet users were quick to react on X. One user wrote:

"It was a big adjustment"- Meghan Markle about having to quit private social media accounts and follow strict posting guidelines following her wedding

According to the report by People Magazine, there were rumors circulating that the account handle @meghan belonged to Meghan Markle before Wednesday's post. The bio for the account reads, "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex," and features a black-and-white profile picture of the Suits actress.

At the time of this writing, the account boasts more than 700 thousand followers.

Per the publication, Markle quit social media in January 2018, ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry. Before her marriage, she had over 3 million followers on her Instagram and even ran her lifestyle blog, The Tig. Following their wedding, any updates about Harry or Megan's royal work appeared on the @KensingtonRoyal account.

In her August 2022 interview on The Cut, Markle explained the transition, stating:

"It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life."

Describing the strict rules that came with being part of the royal family, she continued:

"There's literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota (U.K. Media)."

Meghan Markle rhetorically questioned why she couldn't share a photo of her child in the media. She shares two kids with her husband, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

In May 2019 (just a month before Archie's birth), the royal couple launched a separate Instagram page, @SussexRoyal, where they shared updates of their work. However, the account stopped being updated after they stepped back from their royal duties in 2020. The last post on the account was shared in March 2020.

During her interview with The Cut, Meghan Markle hinted at returning to Instagram. However, she expressed her reluctance over online harassment.

Markle hasn't shared any updates since.
