Blogger and TV personality Meghan McCain slammed Meghan Markle over her latest Netflix show. On Thursday, January 2, 2025, the Duchess of Sussex premiered the official trailer for her upcoming series, With Love, Meghan, on her Instagram. In response, the podcast host took to her X to criticize its timing, writing:

"There have been 2 terror attacks in 2 days, major wars raging and Americans can’t pay for groceries. We are a country in rage, uncertainty and intensity right now."

McCain continued:

"This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment."

The blogger is referencing the explosion outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel and the attack in New Orleans that left over a dozen people dead.

McCain, daughter of late Senator John McCain, continued to suggest Meghan Markle should have made a show focusing on helping people. This included bringing fresh foods to areas that are food deserts (areas with limited access to affordable and nutritious food) in low-income neighborhoods.

"The trailer is highly curated, produced and out of touch"- Meghan McCain about Meghan Markle's upcoming show

In her post, Meghan McCain explained she was originally a Meghan Markle supporter, adding she thought the latter was "cool, stylish, and refreshing." McCain continued:

"Like the rest of the world my opinion changed when she disrespected the royal family. Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored."

Markle married Prince Harry in May 2018, and in January 2020 the couple announced stepping down as working members of the royal family to escape British tabloid scrutiny and the Royal Rota (U.K. Media). The move was met with divided opinions.

McCain in her tirade also added:

"All of this even in the trailer is highly curated, produced and out of touch."

According to its synopsis on Netflix, With Love, Meghan centers around the Duchess of Sussex hosting friends and other celebrities at her home in Montecito, California. It reads:

"Meghan, Duchess of Sussex invites friends and famous guests to a beautiful California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening, and hosting tips."

Per an article on Tudum by Netflix, some of the guests include Roy Choi, Mindy Kaling, and Alice Waters, among acclaimed chefs and special friends.

Thursday's post is Meghan Markle's second posting since her return to social media. The Duchess of Sussex quit Instagram in January 2018 ahead of the royal wedding. Initially, any update about Markle or Harry's royal work appeared on the @KensingtonRoyal account.

In an August 2022 interview on The Cut, Meghan Markle commented on the transition, saying:

"It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life," adding, "There's literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota."

However, in May 2019 (a month before Prince Archie's birth), the couple launched a separate IG account, @SussexRoyal, where they updated their followers about their work. However, after they stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, the account stopped sharing updates.

On New Year's Day Meghan Markle posted a video of herself running on the beach and writing "2025" in the sand on her IG account @Meghan.

With Love, Meghan is scheduled to premiere on January 15, 2025.
