In May 2019, Jennifer Dulos, a Connecticut woman, disappeared from her house. A few months after her disappearance, Dulos' estranged husband was accused of being involved in her presumed death. The woman was last seen dropping her kids at school, shortly after which she vanished.
Along with the estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, his then-girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, was also accused of being involved in the presumed murder. She allegedly helped Fotis cover up Jennifer's death. Recently, in her trial, footage of blood stains being found in Jennifer's garage was shown. Authorities have further revealed that they haven't found the victim's remains yet.
Jennifer Dulos was allegedly attacked by her estranged husband, who then drove away with her remains
The incident can be traced back to May 24, 2019, when Jennifer Dulos was last seen dropping her children at school. Dulos, at that time, was in the middle of a disputed divorce and also a custody battle with Fotis. A few months after she vanished, police accused her husband of being responsible for her presumed death. Later, Fotis' then-girlfriend was also considered a suspect.
In August 2023, the victim's mother requested the Darien-New Canaan Probate Court to declare her dead after nobody could find her whereabouts. This was then reported by NBC Connecticut. Currently, Michelle, Fotis' then-girlfriend's trial is going on. In the trial, authorities have revealed the footage where they found blood stains in the victim's garage and on her vehicle.
New Canaan Police Department Sgt. Aaron LaTourette gave his testimony on Friday, where he recalled the day they conducted a welfare check at Jennifer Dulos' house. According to him, it was May 24, 2019, around 7 pm local time. The welfare check was conducted primarily because she didn't show up at a doctor's appointment. He added:
"There was a red mark on the grill area of the vehicle."
According to Sgt. Aaron, the stain caught his eye after he noticed that the color there was different from that of the vehicle.
Police initially thought that the vehicle had hit an animal, but they also found no damage
Law enforcement officials revealed that they reportedly got the key to enter the house from the babysitter. After seeing bloodstains in front of the car, LaTourette initially thought that the vehicle might have hit a deer. However, he also noticed that there was no damage to the car. While Jennifer Dulos was declared dead, the judge stated:
"Extensive efforts have been made by local and State Police authorities to locate her body. To date, more than four years have passed and the body of Jennifer has not been located."
The judge additionally mentioned:
"Neither Jennifer’s mother, children, other family members and friends have been contacted by Jennifer since May 24, 2019. The inescapable conclusion is Jennifer is deceased."
Dulos' estranged husband maintained his innocence till the end. In January 2020, he died by suicide, while being out on bail. Michelle, on the other hand, faces multiple charges to which she has pleaded not guilty.
