On Wednesday, January 8, James Woods retweeted a post talking about insurance companies treating the LA residents better in the wake of homes being destructed by the Palisades fire. The 77-year-old captioned his retweet:

"Actually one of the major insurances companies canceled all the policies in our neighborhood about four months ago."

The coincidence of the Palisades fire starting months after all the homeowners' insurance in the area was canceled by one company has drawn the attention of netizens online, with one of them commenting:

"Oh wow. We have the beginnings of a conspiracy now..."

Some netizens pointed out how the combination of no residential insurance and fire created conditions ripe for a massive land grab in California.

"This is true because I know people who can’t get residential insurance either in certain neighborhoods in Los Angeles. These fires plus no insurance makes conditions ripe for a massive land grab Maui style…" commented an X user.
"Most of my California friends and family do NOT have homeowners policies anymore. Where are the water dropping planes and helicopters l???" added a second one.
"That seems odd, doesn’t it? Cancel the insurance and then 4 months later the whole area is burnt? Without insurance these people cannot rebuild and will be forced to sell their land," wrote a third user.

Meanwhile, other netizens blamed the state of California for preventing insurance companies from charging the actual price they would need based on the risk.

"This has been happening for years. The CA won’t let companies charge the actual price they would need based on the risk, so they pull out. CA is the absolute worst state when it comes to doing business, in particular insurance," replied a fourth netizen.
"I would be very curious to know which insurance company that is. It seems like they have play of money make tons of commercials during all sporting events and especially big games, which costs millions! But dump their customers! Total sham!" wrote a fifth user.
"No accident. This is to keep from having to pay out millions if not billions of dollars and also keep all of you from being able to rebuild because what have they been saying for the last few years? "You will own nothing and you will be happy', " posted a sixth one.

James Woods' retweet comes as four different wildfires are currently active in the state of California, having collectively destroyed over 2,000 structures, per Los Angeles Times.

James Woods teared up about losing his LA home yesterday

James Woods, who highlighted the major homeowner's insurance in his LA neighborhood being canceled months ago, was in tears as he spoke to CNN on Wednesday, January 8. The Vampires actor told CNN's Pamela Brown:

"One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone."

Recounting the evacuation process that took place in his neighborhood early Wednesday, James Woods also spoke about helping out his 94-year-old neighbor, who suffered dementia.

"He’d been left alone. There was so much chaos, it was like an inferno. Every house was on fire around us," Woods said.

As he continued to describe the harrowing conditions he witnessed before being evacuated, James Woods broke into tears, saying, "I thought I would be stronger than this," as he wiped them away. Brown responded to his emotional recount, saying:

"Strength is not measured by whether you hold in crying … strength is what you are doing now in helping your neighbors and shining a light on the great, amazing work of all those firefighters and emergency crews."

Having safely evacuated from his home and moved to a safe location, James Woods posted another tweet, disclosing that he had started a home renovation project after COVID, which had finished last month.

To conclude his post, Woods mentioned that there was no possession as priceless as good neighbors and friends in a tragedy.
