Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, appeared on NBC News’s Meet The Press on Sunday, where he stated that Donald Trump's medical records were not relevant to American voters. Defending the former president's reluctance to reveal his medical records, Johnson added that Trump's skills have been proven every other day.
Host Kristen Welker addressed Johnson and asked whether Trump should release his medical records to the voters. This prompted Johnson to start praising the ex-president and defending his reluctance to share the records with the public.
Johnson said:
"Kamala Harris issued her medical records as a diversion because she’s desperate, because she’s sinking in the polls. Donald Trump’s health is on display. Everyone in America can see it."
Johnson further called the medical records "irrelevant" and added:
"The American people don’t care about the cholesterol level of Donald Trump. They care about the cost of living and the fact they cannot pay for groceries."
The internet soon divided into groups with opposing takes. Criticizing the former president and convicted felon's reluctance to share his medical records, an X user wrote:
"Why is he hiding his medical records? Why not just fess up? He's extremely old. Voters have a right to know if he's going to croak in office."
"Mike Johnson doesn’t care about democracy and the rule of law," said another X user.
"We simply want former President Trump to release his medical records. Why is that too much to ask?," questioned a netizen.
An X user defended Donald and tweeted:
"He’s more alive than Joe Biden. That’s enough for me. 😏."
"Donald doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t do drugs... AND IS ALWAYS WORKING! They are worried about his cholesterol levels? B*tch please!," another Trump supporter posted.
"Kristen Walker is a tireless advocate for single issue cholesterol voters!," commented a netizen.
Kamala Harris bashed Donald Trump after he failed to reveal his medical records
On Saturday, a letter from Kamala Harris' doctor Dr. Joshua Simmons, was released, according to which she is currently in great shape. As per the letter, the Vice President has "excellent health" and "possesses the physical and mental resiliency."
Shortly after the release of Harris' medical records, the Republican candidate's campaign claimed that he was fit to lead the nation. However, no specifics about his health have been revealed since then.
This prompted Harris, who is 59, to slam the former president, who is 78, for being opaque about his health records. NBC News reported that during a rally on Sunday, Kamala Harris spoke about the issue, and said:
"He refuses to release his medical records. I've done it. Every other presidential candidate in the modern era has done it."
As per CNN, last year the septuagenarian posted a letter from his doctor, Bruce Aronwald, in which the physician approved of his health and wrote:
"His physical exams were well within the normal range and his cognitive exams were exceptional."
The internet is now divided with some believing that Donald should reveal the latest medical records, while another group believes that it is not relevant enough.
