Aaron Pennington on the run after shooting wife to death on Sunday
Local authorities in Gardner, Massachusetts, made a gruesome discovery on Sunday, October 22, 2023. They found the body of a woman who had been shot and was initially discovered by her four children who went to their neighbors for help. The four children fall between two and nine years old.
Upon arrival, police identified the body as that of Breanne Pennington and named her husband Aaron Pennington as the suspect. Aaron is believed to be "armed and dangerous" and is currently on the run.
According to an application for a criminal complaint, the four children went to their neighbor's place after they couldn't find their father while their mother was in her bedroom.
"The four children were known to reside with their parents at 42 Cherry Street in the city of Gardner. The children also stated that their father’s vehicle was no longer in the residence’s driveway," the application added.
While the police couldn't find the murder weapon, they did find three shell casings in the bedroom where they found Breanne's body. During the intense manhunt, police found Aaron Pennington's white 2013 BMW at a Boy Scout camp in the city. However, Aaron was nowhere to be seen.
The couple's marriage was in a dire state and Breanne had decided to move out
The local police, who have sought out help from the public to find Pennington, added that the suspect might have a firearm with him.
"He should be considered armed and dangerous," they said.
However, Breanne's family described her husband as a "coward" and urged him to turn himself in. Brook Pertile, Breanne's younger sister spoke about Aaron and said that he needed to "stand up for what he did" and turn himself in.
"He better turn himself in. And not be a coward," Brook said.
She also shed light on Aaron's mental health issues which had taken a toll on the family's condition. She added that on the outside Pennington was a "very nice person but noted that he had been going through some mental health issues that only seemed to worsen.
It was also discovered that the couple had been struggling to save their marriage. Breanne wanted to move to Texas with her children to get away from her husband. Brook spoke about her now-deceased sister and described her as a loving woman.
