Emhoff allegedly grew jealous when Jane appeared to flirt with a valet worker while they were waiting for their car after a Cannes Film Festival event. The friends recounted that the slap was so hard it caused her to spin around.

One of Jane's friends, a top New York businessman, mentioned that they received a phone call from her immediately after the alleged assault.

"It was hard to hear her because she was sobbing. She told me she was with a guy and he hit her," the friend said.

They further explained that Jane was in the car with Emhoff then, and she allegedly broke up with him that night.
